Hi everybody! First post! I just recently acquired my first bike. A 1986 Vf500f (ca) with 8700 miles on the clock. This is the bike i wanted since freshman year high school so i bought it. A couple questions though. Its been sitting for 10 years. Seller started it right up with starter fluid......yikes! I am currently disassembling the carb and i noticed the previous owner capped off all emission lines, turned the pilot screws all the way in with loose bolts scattered throughout. Does anyone know which vacuum diapgraghms go to which carb and which emulsion tubes go where?

Im disassembling one at a time but judging by the condition of the carb im afraid the prev. Owner might have mixed em up. Thank you!!

The OEM manual I found states #90 mainjets front and rear UNLESS you're in CA in which case an 86 would be #95 front and #92 rear. Pilot screw initial opening should be 2 1/2 turns out (then follow the idle drop method to fine tune). Jet needles should all the same (2VB).

I owned a VF500 brand new back in the day, still have very fond memories of that. Good luck with your restoration. Bet you've got clogged pilot jets, these things are really tiny and clog easily.

Thank you Terry Smith! I'm really hopeful for it! Since the previous owner capped off the EVAP/PCV system. What should I do with that black tube coming out of the carb in the center between the fuel ports? Should i cap it?

Sounds like you are describing the primary vent tube. Do not cap it. It should just point down so no debris can enter. The right rear carb normally has a little holder attached with one of the diaphragm cover screws to direct it downward.

LoL it would help to proof read 105 FRONT, 108 rear it has some sort of 4-1 full length exhaust on it. That's a little big though no?
