I have heard some things about EBC HH Sintered pads, seems like you can lock up the front if you don't have ABS with a sticky tire.

IMO the EBC HH pads are great. But I also feel the OEM are good too. I would buy the HH
    next time I buy pads.

Have run several sets of both OEM and EBC 499 HH. I wish I knew who made the OEM's cause I think they stop a bit better than the EBC's. Given the difference in price though , the EBC's work just fine. When I need to replace I will go back with the EBC's. Also used a set of Galfers, They did not work well in my case and therefore not worth the extra cost IMO.

I run EBC HH on my three bikes (and a Vespa!); great feel and power, consistent hot or cold.

I been using EBC on my 8th gen for over a year, they work great. They do whirr alot from the holes in the discs! Lets me know if I am dragging the brakes alittle.

Here is Mikes rather extensive pad info page. He is going to give EBC another chance but he has never liked them. I used them at the track many years ago and had terrible fad after just 3 laps. If your just tooling around town probably no issue but if you ride the canyons or are aggressive rider or travel 2 up with a load and brake heavy probably a lot better options out there, stock works well for an all all rounder. Go to Mods on this page. There is a lot of first hand testing here.

Stock pads are a big problem in the UK winter, they stick to the Disks and rust up, seem to have a high iron content. In Winter, If you put the Bike away wet, the pads are seized to the disks the following morning. EBC HH don't do that. they are quite noisey though compared to original pads.

I am guessing whatever is making them 'freeze' to the disk is also making them stop better than the EBC's. Anybody know who makes the stock pads?

True and respected. However, a motorcycle internet forum is no place for such reasonable logic. Let r rip!

I just bought my 1000 mile old 2016 VFR1200F late last year. It was an ex honda UK press Bike. It needed a new rear disk because there was severe pitting on the disk, in the pattern of a pad imprint. The front left caliper was dragging badly, leaving rust from the pads on the disk everytime I rode it. Maybe I could have burned off the rust by just riding and excercising the pads, but in the end I binned them. The clutch span adjuster was seized solid, even the little brass bush that pushes the clutch cylinder had seized in the lever. The Bike had been neglected over one UK winter.. And the left mirror silvering was crroding in from the edge. I'm preety anal about my Bikes, all has been put right. New rear disk, EBC pads front and rear. New LH Mirror.

I think you've been a little unlucky Alan, I keep my bike under a tarp and just changed my front pads, pistons were lovely and clean, I reckon its the salty winter roads that do the damage...I'm a dry weather rider, if possible.

I always use EBC HH pads but not because they stop better or worse, just because my bike stays a little cleaner (less brake dust).

I actually read through this and went with the Carbon Lorraine pads (XBK5) for my 5 Gen and at the track, they've been awesome. Much better than when I had EBC HH pads. For the street (6 Gen), the EBC are fine but I think the next brake pad purchase for the 6 Gen will be the Carbon Lorraine's there too.

Long ago I tried the EBC HH pads on the CBR and the brake fade after a few laps was bad. Switched out to the CL's and found them to be much better. For street the EBC are probably fine but if I was hauling the mail in the canyons and mountains I would upgrade.
