Hey DM, I'd be willing to splurge and get one of those if you'd be willing to teach me how to use it to get the ladies to run after me (which, for full disclosure, never happened to me to begin with and I'm talking about using it legally, not for stealing their purses or anything...)… :D

Hey MD, maybe you could have Mrs MD take a level picture of the oil window while you're straddling the bike upright?

Maybe this would work better then a bike stand.

Even though I have a center stand, after getting rear ended last year and screwing up my lower back, my bike lowered with Lustracing triangles, it’s pretty painful to do it lately, probably because I ain’t no spring chicken anymore.

I rode my 6 Gen to the D-Store and browsed their selection of goodies and then came home and did a clean/lube/adjustment of the chain. It has just under 1000 miles on it so far (DID X-Ring).

My poor new baby is still sat in the back of the van after buying her last weekend. She is obviously a little depressed as she hasn't taken any food or water yet. I patted and stroked her for a while, reasuring her that she would have a nice warm bath after her medical examination this weekend.

Rode my 6 Gen in the rain and got a bit wet! I recently did a Nik Wax treatment on my supposedly "waterproof" gloves but they didn't last the 60 mile ride. Even my supposedly "waterproof" over pants let a bunch of water in. Although both of these items are my "spare" rain gear, I wore them to test my gloves out and to see if the pants were indeed not as poor as I recall them to be, they were! The pants were not that great to begin with anyway but I was at least hoping for more or longer protection out of the gloves though. Going to ride to San Diego tomorrow, I'm going to wear my "A game" gear and see how they work out tomorrow.

After riding the 6 Gen for the past week, rain and all, I gave the chain another cleaning and lube. This was after I helped Scubalong with replacing the steering head bearings on his 6 Gen. Turned out we needed to replace the front wheel bearings too! The "knocking" that the front end was giving wasn't entirely the steering head after all. Glad I had seals and bearings on hand. I like to keep a few spares of some items around, just in case.

After confirming that the bike was filled with too much oil from the dealer with help from the missus, I decided to drain some of the oil out. But somehow ended up spilling everything on the floor (I think it was because I had no beer in my system)... Container was too small, and had a hole in it i didnt notice. Anyways for a bike that had been ridden just 100 miles, the oil sure looked darker than I would expect. (Forgot to take pictures until I had cleaned up). Salesman couldn't say how long oil had been in it so I guess it must have been a while. So I guess it wasn't a loss after all. Put in some new oil and rode 20 miles and most of the clunkiness is gone.

I guess i should change the rest of the fluids... coolant and brake fluids...

One of my favourite pastimes now is scouring through the threads and soaking up on info and so I happened to come upon a post by Bubba of a website listing places to buy pure gas. One of the stations was only 3 miles away and bike was running low with the dealer filled gas and I had no idea what kind of gas it was so I thought it would be a good idea to refill my tank. There was still some daylight, temperature in low 40's and it was so tempting, I decided to take a "short" ride.

Unfortunately, didnt forsee the temperature dropping 10 degrees and I was already 40 miles away from home. Suffice to say frozen fingers almost soured the ride back but I made it ok. Well, I did get some nice pictures to show for the ride.

Finally had some nice weather in the north east, so I rearranged the garage so I could get my bikes out. Did the usual checks and dusting and took both the 86-500 and the 99-800 for a little ride. Both started up good and ran good to. It was like scratching an itch. Came back with a big smile on my face.

I removed all calipers, checked and cleaned and put them back... Hates Japanese engineers a bit more now, the rear caliper is not nice.

I have always thought my 5th gen too quiet, I was considering an aftermarket can but didn't want to spend any money so I drilled 4 8mm holes, they pass through the inner cap as well as the outer. It just sounds that bit better, seems to go better but.... The silencer runs much cooler now which I like, you can put your hand on it when it's as hot as it gets. Might even pass the MOT? 20190327_145055_resized.jpg

Installed a voltage meter with usb ports, then went for a test ride to make sure I didn't mess anything up:).

Everything checks out I think... 12.6v with bike off, 14.2 when on. Does not change with revs, which some have suggested. Any thoughts?
