What rubber to put on....

Well my 2007 VFR800 might be 12 years old now, but it is still on the factory rubber. Yep, you heard me, it is still shod with Metzler Metz 4A. The bike only has less than 5K on it hence, no new rubber.

In the past on other VFR models I have had Avon Storm, Metzler Sportec, Michelin Pilot 3 and 4 and I'm just wondering what to go with now. I know that tires are a head game, if they make you feel confident, then you will stick it into any corner. I had Pilot 4 on my VFR1200X, that thing I rode like a race bike, except it was to heavy to go round corners and wanted to go through them....

Anyway, popcorn is on!

Any new tire would be substantially better than 12 year old tires. Please replace soon.
That being said, S22's or T31's with a $60 rebate are worth consideration.

 

Can't go wrong with most modern sport or sport touring tires. I typically run Michelin (Road 5 on the 6 Gen and Power RS on the 5 Gen) but have a set Pirelli (Super Corsa SP2) that I use on my 6 Gen from time to time (Track days, pure fun rides). I also have tried Bridgestone (S21) and even had Dunlop (Q2) but those were on the Duc (95 900SS/SP). The Pirelli are probably the "stickiest" I've used but they don't last that long, particularly when pushing it hard the corners! I believe Competition Accessories (www.compacc.com) is having a tire sale at the moment. Not sure how their prices compare to Rocky Mountain ATV but the latter usually has the best prices on tires whenever I go looking.

'07 came with Metz? Canada thing? My '09 came with Dunlop, have run Metz ever after!

 

These don't actually feel that bad. I have had them knee down with no issues.

 

No, I picked it up from Phoenix last year. Only had 1800k on it. Guy bought it, used it for one season and then stopped riding it. Put it in the back of the garage. Still had original battery, but that didn't hold charge anymore.

I've used Michelin tires on my various bikes and currently have Michelin Pilot 4's ( just replacing the rear ) on my 99 VFR. I've had good luck with them and they grip well. Lots of good tires out there these days, and it pretty well boils down to personal choice.
