Took my last ride of the season today. Beautiful sunny day here in Boise. On the cold side however but my gen 3 sure likes the cold air induction effect.
Unfortunately I have to store the bike outside so after prepping it for winter I picked up a king sized mattress bag at U-Haul for about five bucks. With a little help from my wife I was able to push the entire bike into the bag. I cut a few vent holes and then covered everything up with a blue tarp and tucked it in for the winter. At least it won't get wet and I think there will be enough air circulation so things don't get musty.

The plastic wrap won't be a good idea. It will collect moisture inside with the heating/cooling cycle in the winter time. That will rust stuff on your bike. Invest in a good motorcycle cover with vents. If you can place the bike in a place where it doesn't get direct sun exposure, like in a car port or north side of the house.

If you think of your freezer, frost collects on the inside of plastic bags.

Being the bike has carbs, make sure you drain them or put Sea Foam in the tank and run it for awhile. If you leave gas in the tank, fill it to the top and treat it as well.

other important storage details include rubbing some oil on the forks, stuffing the exhaust pipe end with a rag, over-inflating tires, removing battery to store indoors, using centerstand, blocking the airbox to discourage rodent ingress, then oil up the cylinders too.

I did provide plenty of ventilation in the bags. I am mainly concerned with water splashing up and onto the wheels and underside of the bike. I keep an eye on things pretty closely and it does stay rather dry here in Boise. I wont let my babies rust that's for certain.
