I've been trying to get a decent ride in with the Versys before winter sets in and it's either good temps and non-stop rain or bitter cold for the last ten days. Finally had decent weather and took a short spin around some very nice local roads. Love the heated grips, makes riding in chilly weather so comfortable.

A small dead-end side road that leads to the salt marsh. Apparently a clam digging area according to the posted signs. On a side note, I hate taking a photo at this angle of the bike, it always looks like one of the side cases is missing.

The low sun this time of year makes for some dramatic lighting even during midday.

What could be more New England in the Fall than a turned leaf and a clam shell.

    Berry good!

These cows were mildly interested in my photo shenanigans while I attempted to cross the unusually busy street for a photo.

Still some color to be found on the trees but most are either brown or bare by now.

End the day at my favorite food truck, Fred's Franks on the beautiful shores of Lake Q in Wakefield.

Being a homegrown Wisconsin boy I decided to have a bratwurst.

Got some decent weather coming up during the week and may get out one or two more times but those rides will most likely be briefer than what I enjoyed today.

Ahhhh, so wonderful! Thank you for sharing and makes me smile seeing someone getting out, taking random photos, using the word shenanigans, and enjoying taking motophotos. Here in Doodah it's getting pretty darn cold. I just lamented in the garage. Laid on moto a while. I imagine it's getting chillier quickly up there. Soon I'll be jelly of the snow up there. Will you ride year round? Here we can ride a few random days a month.

Anyhoo, thank you for sharing! Inspires me to make a few reports of my specific rides this summer. Though littles, it's always fun to find the randoms and fun pics.

No, today is the last good day for the foreseeable future. I'm going to take the Interceptor out for a ride along the coast in between rush hour traffic times and then probably pack it away for the Winter this weekend. I can ride the Versys in much colder weather as it's set up for that but with the shorter amounts of daylight and the extreme change of weather during the day it's really feels like fighting a losing battle. Usually weather starts to get ridable again in March though you always have those few days during Winter where you think it might be a good idea for a quick ride but then you have to contend with salt and sand on the roads and that's just problematic.

Always envious of those with longer riding seasons. Look forward to some of your moto-photos.

Once the roads are salted and treated for wintry conditions, the residue get rather harmful to be left on bikes once covered with them.
Washing bikes in sub-freezing temps is not fun..

Yea, that's what I meant about problematic, not just the loose sand on our streets but cleaning the bike afterwards.

They use salt brine on the roads in my area. We get little snow but black ice is a real issue. Salt brine will remain on the road until the rain comes again and washes it away. I suspect they will use salt when it actually does snow.

I rode mine year round when I was working. The salt brine had very little effect on my bike and sure as hell, a day or two after they applied the brine, the rains came again. Riding at freeway speeds for over an hour each way two and from work was like pressure washing your bike twice a day. Nothing better to clear the salt from your vehicle than a good run on the freeway in the rain.

This winter there will be no riding for me though. Maybe not this summer either but I have not hung up my lid forever.

    Never say never Randy.
Next warm spring day take a liberal dose of anti inflammatories, some pain killers and a small dose of throttle lubricant and enjoy the day.
You might pay for it later but it will be worth it.
