What kind of helmet are you running that is so noisy? I have a cheap helmet (Bell qualifier) and the wind noise isn't that bad. Granted I have my music cranked to the max and it is a bit muted at highway speeds over 75 MPH but I can still hear it pretty well and around town it is perfectly clear.

I have the Sena 20 but I find that I can't hear much at speed with earplugs in as well. The speakers that come with it aren't that good and my plan over the winter is to replace the speakers with something better in the hopes that it helps.

Cell Phone charging in Tank Bag, with 2000 selected MP3 tunes, play in Random Mode.
    Bluetooth to SENA 10C.
    Plug in Custom Molded Ear Speakers;

Speaker with 1 Woofer (2 woofers available but overkill).
Noise Block is Exceptional (couldn't hear the Border Guard yelling at me).
    High Fidelity Sound.
Custom Mold, so can wear'em All Day.
Pricey ($325cdn) but worth it, shoulda done it 35 years ago.

I guess wind noise is subjective. What you might consider "not bad" someone else may consider very noisy. I have a Shoei, plus some HJC's. I've experimented with buying various sizes, but it hasn't made much of a difference. I tend to ride sportbikes with low screens, and find there's a lot of wind noise even with ear plugs. To combat the noise I wear a scarf which I stuff up the back of the helmet. This tends to reduce the noise significantly. Modern helmets do not extend very far at the back because of rotation of the head in a collision causing a possible major neck injury.

Without a doubt the quietest helmet full face I ever owned was a Premier in 1974, around the time full face helmets first appeared. It was very quiet and I believe it was so because the back of the helmet was very long. I have major tinnitus which I think exacerbates the wind noise I heart. I also don't think that being 6'2" helps when riding Japanese bikes with low screens basically made for people around 5'8".

Hmm, I get a lot more wind noise when I tuck behind the wind deflector. So for me height is an advantage. (I'm only 179cm, or ~5'10").

When I'm upright. My HJC FG-ST is very quiet, even at highway speeds, that I mostly run at. The chin piece makes a big difference. But has to be removed when the weather is cold and wet, to reduce fogging.

In my 3rd gen the previous owner had tucked a foam piece inside the air vent that lets air behind the windscreen, blocking it almost totally. Maybe about 4/5ths removing the foam, made the noise slightly worse. Turning the foam 90deg, only blocking about 1/4ths, it actually made the noise slightly softer, more tolerable.

I'll have to test with some different junk installed on the instrument console. I'm guessing that some sort of "fin" or "arrow" on top of the dash, might help alot with the issue.

Yup, we would have maintain'd our Hearing (got a loss at high end, over all loss, and some Tinnitus).

I used to ride with no hearing protection, then some Foam Plugs, but the Solid Silicone can't be beat.
iPod style Ear Buds have little noise block.
It seems silly to me to put in Ear Foamies, and then have to turn the Speaker Volume up to Full, runs down the battery.

I put the SENA Speakers in the Ski Helmet, and transfer the SENA 10C Camera over for the winter.
Can record Video and listen to Tunes while Skiing/Fat Tire Biking.

I never Make or Take phone calls, since NO phone call is more Important than my Riding Experience.
Though I do have to pay more Visual Attention, since I can't hear the Police Siren behind me.

My Brother-in-law fitted a set of Bose speakers to his Sena 20 said major improvement. I'll have to get the Part number from him and post up.

Finally caught up with my brother-in-law over the holiday. These are Bose replacement headphone speakers. I tried them out in his helmet and they are louder than my Sena and sound better as far as range low to high. The seller on Ebay is (jewelrysmart87) item#39210683916 cost $5.88 US. Sorry it took so long to get back to you.

I use these with a small BT. Plug phones. The plugs kill off the wind noise and leave me with just music from my phone that is mounted directly in front of me.

Thanks for getting back about it, I will look into it.
I actually had my hearing tested the other day after my wife and daughter kept saying " You need to get your hearing checked!". It is fine, no issues so I told them to stop mumbling and speak clearly. We will see how that goes. I was seriously expecting that I have had some hearing loss so it's nice to know that things are good and my volume / clarity complaint of the Sena is justified.
