It does looks like a rocket ship, so much technology going into the frame kit.

Nope, those are NOT integrated brakes.. those are caliper brakes, not even close to being tucked out of sight, for you can easily see them in the picture.

These below are integrated brakes on my project:

If you consider them the same technology... brakes, who needs them; they only slow you down.

    Something you don't see everyday:

Customer dropped off bike complained rear brake is rubbing and would like chain installed

That must be that new light weight technology I have been hearing about for derailers and sprocket sets. Nice. They said it was ighter than air. I believe them.

Some people can tear up an anvil. Bicycles, however, require much less maintenance than a VFR from my experience. Recreational "toys" are generally expensive to buy (because they're bought on emotion) but they are one of the few things that bring pleasure in this stressed out world. I need some new recreational equipment, LOL! A new bicycle is soon to be had....with high technology that allegedly doesn't exist. What next.....

During the weekdays, I revert back to simpler technology, I commute on my folding bike in NYC, between Hoboken and Coney Isl., NY.

It's a slower pace of cycling, but cycling none the less, it's a game of survival vs motorized vehicles.. in one of the busiest traffic of this nation.

Luckily, my speed rarely exceed 15-16 mph, stopping and maneuvering among motorized vehicles is still pretty simple; with a smaller overall size of the folding bike, I'm less likely to get hit.

You have both skill and courage to do that and survive. Keep on keeping on.

I recently accepted a new job, this time in the same city I live, within 10km of my house. I'm looking forward to commuting exclusively by bike again, the downside is I have no idea when I'll use my VFR... I don't typically do recreational rides, and at least a third of the year is winter... It might get pretty lonely.

Comparing to getting shot at in different war zones, NYC traffic on a bicycle is piece of cake.

10km, just enough to break a sweat that you might need a shower and change clothe once you get to work.

Yeah, I might need to wear cycling clothes in the hotter months, but I'm pretty good at keeping sweat under control. In the summers I've been biking to work 2-3 times a week with nothing more than a change of clothes and a face wipe, and it's currently 26km away. This'll be a piece of cake, and my wife does pretty much the same commute.

I'm getting an electric bike for my father-in-law, who's been wanting something that's easy to step over and take up minimal space in their house/garage.
His typical ride for them would be trips to the grocery store 1/2 mile to 2 mile away, maybe occasionally 7-8 miles one-way to the nearest fishing pier along the Bay Parkway in Brooklyn.

    I ordered a $950 w/shipping, step-thru ebike, 500w, 48v 12.5 ah, about 55 lb. bike, expecting delivery next MON.
Of course, I will be riding it first.

This is more or less my situation; I've gone from doing 20k+ miles per year commuting on my bikes to commuting a 25m round trip that I try and cycle as much as possible. I've used my motorbike more this year thanks to a new addition to our family meaning I want to get home more quickly, but last year I put more miles on my Trek crossrip 3 than I did my VFR :D Ditched the car nearly 3 years ago now and don't miss it!

Very true. I'm going bike shopping for probably the last time today and order the latest and greatest carbon fiber bicycle today. It's too cold to ride at the moment but that will change. Bicycling helps endurance with motorcycle riding. There's no substitute for good physical condition. It takes effort but who of us aren't worth quite a bit when it comes to health?

    Any update?

I salvaged an electric bike from local restaurant delivery guy, cleaned it up, performed a tune-up, find a replacement battery hope to get it working in the next few weeks.
