    There is a different one on the right side coming from the rear air box that connects to the metal air pan but I don’t know where the little one from the air joining tubes in the carburetor goes

    Non- Cali bikes just vent to atmosphere. Point it down with a long enough tube so nothing can get in.

    The 2 green tubes are your fuel, right? (86 500 gravity fed fuel lines split into 2 before the carbs. 84 - 85 feed from the pump to the left most carb) That leaves vent and vacuum, and those are not vacuum lines.

    Not a good idea to remove the airbox base from the carb set, and you accomplished nothing by doing so. :confused:

    +1. Quickest way to crack your brittle fuel and air crossover tubes and/or make the old o-rings leak.

    Well good sirs also the only way to replace the fuel lines cuz you can’t get to the left side clamp without taking it off. Which is what I was also doing. But thanks for the tip .

    We aren't trying to bust your balls, but that's the way you CHOSE to do it. You remove the carbs with the plenum attached to accomplish it if needed. The plenum should only be removed (after removing the carb assy from the bike) if the carbs need to be separated, like when you have to replace cracked fuel tubes and bad o-rings.

    Here is the same vent hose, but this is a 86 VFR700F (virtually the same set-up). There is even a little bracket on the slide cap that keeps the vent pointed down.

    I know you’re not trying to bust my balls just seem like lotta unnecessary work to remove the whole carb assembly from the motor and then remove the pan from the carb on the bench when I could just remove the pan from the carb in place.

    Unfortunately it's what working on V4s entails sometimes. You dont have to then remove the pan, the hoses are accessible when it is simply turned over. That's just not a shortcut that's a good idea when everything is 33 years old and you are putting stress on it. It's not just what I think could happen, it's the exact thing I've seen happen many, many times. Hopefully it is all good.
