Not sure if this rider rescue is up and running but I wanted to give a shout out to Jethro911 for having the foresight to know I was broken down today. I wasn't even on the VFR, my daughter and I were coming back from an afternoon of dirt biking when we had trailer trouble. I looked up from under the trailer to see Jethro asking if we needed help (pretty small world).......it was sure nice seeing someone mechanically inclined with an assortment of power tools.
    Many thanks Jethro911

If and when ever I make it to the east coast, I will time my breakdowns...the mechanical type....so one of them happens at your place Jethro.

Hell, I'm in. I've got a trailer and a bunch of ratchet straps. I'm handy with tools, and I've got a hero complex, so I love rushing to help people. I'm in the "Lake Region" of Northeastern PA, about 35 miles from Hawk's Nest.

Don't think I can help much from where I am, but if anyone is ever planning on coming to KZN in South Africa. PM me beforehand and I will give you my contact details, that way I will know to keep an eye out if you get jammed up.

Hi Randy, unfortunately if you are riding the east coast you'll be about 1600km from Jethro. I'm not mechanically inclined and don't have many tools but maybe we can facetime Jethro and he can talk us through the situation. Haha!
When you get running again I'll take you on a tour of many great rides all with an hour of my house. This means we are never more than an hour (or so) from the beer fridge!
    Cheers
    Steve

I thought he moved to the east coast about 5 or so years ago from somewhere in Ontario. Or has he moved back now.

I would dearly love to hit up the Maritimes both with the bike and the RV. But that is one long haul to get to from my place. Hell, the salt water of the Pacific actually backs up into the canal here in Chilliwack during a very high tide.

Next trip is to Alaska this coming May/June with Reg. That is going to be an awesome trip. Reg is a great person to ride with. Just don't let him lead the way. He takes you down gawd awful roads that were built to be flown over.

I will try to post up. I do on Facebook, and I think both Reg and I posted up our Baja trip in October 2018. I think buried somewhere in this thread, is a link to Reg's thread on same trip.

This road help thread is in need of a bump. Any new people out there who would like to add their resources or those members who find themselves in need while out on the road. I have and was graciously helped out by Chickie when a stator not only burned up, it was cremated when I arrived in Las Vegas. What a place to break down.

Yeah, it has been a while. I remember one time Drew left my place and broke down out near Buttonwillow I think. I don't remember if he used this thread, but he did stay in touch with me keeping me aware of his status.

Hey Randy - Should we interpret this to mean that you are once again planning another epic trip on the VFR but this time you are checking out in advance where to break down?

Long has a nice double garage... and even a spare VFR in LA.

If you were tempted to head overseas then over in the Alps we will still have snow on the roads well into May - so longer trips and motorbike meets only really kick off in mid June with a group already planning to ride down to my place from Norway and another at the end of the month with 20+ riders coming over from the UK prior heading for a huge meet in Leysin Switzerland.
Spring still looks a long way off - meantime looking out the window we have :Smow::Smow::Smow::Smow: so its time to go skiing.

I do have two epic trips planned for this year but I will be taking either my GS or my brand spanking new Africa Twin if I have it by then. I am close to having the cash. JUne, Reg and I are heading up to Prudhoe Bay in Alaska. It is the furthest north you can go by road in the USA. On the shores of the Arctic Ocean. WE have been trying to do this one ever since he, Toe and I went to Baja in 2018. but covid got in the way.
Then in November, a friend from here and I are going to truck our bikes down to California somewhere, meet up with Toe, then ride down to Cabo san Lucas. Again, I will be on the AT. I am not sure how much I can depend on the VFR for long hard rides any more. The mileage is really high,
I would just love to get over there and join you on a ride through Europe. But I think I would come back to a house with different locks on the door and a new man of the house. The wife is damned good at me taking the rides I do here, but I thing she would blow a gasket if I were to take a trip over there on my own. She does not ride. I would also love to get over to Vietnam some day but I doubt that will happen either.

I'd like to pop my name down to help if I can. I have little mechanical experience but have car to drive to garage, some tools and plenty of enthusiasm.
    Real name: Dan
I'm based on the north edge of the Peak District UK.
Pm me or contact the admin for my phone number if you're within an hour or so and need help.
