I’d fight it and ask to see when the last time his radar was calibrated.

Ask a lawyer how many similar cases have they won?
Use both barrels. So to speak.

Go find a traffic ticket lawyer that goes to court with 4000 tickets at a time to contest every one of them. They all get dismissed. It costs money for a lawyer but you don't get points, higher insurance, and the other consequences of a ticket. There is no such thing as a cop willing to "lose face" by being proven wrong. They will lie, cheat and steal before that happens. Their word is everything and yours is nothing. Don't you just love the system?

I am sure that absolutely none of the thousands and thousands of violators I pulled over and either ticketed, warned or just spoke with ever lied to me about their speed or how much they had to drink. That is why I had to just give them a ticket and lie in court about.

I can't believe the fukken morons that this thread has produced. Time to un-follow this trash.

Agreed, the only bit of this story I’m struggling with is detection from a moving vehicle on the opposite carriageway. Or the need to detect turn and persue. If car was parked up and turned then yes but not moving. Or maybe the technology has passed my wherewithal

The radar systems depending on the manufacturer installed in police cars and even motorcycles can do speed detection even if they're moving, and the target vehicle is moving towards or away from them. As for detection from the opposite carriageway moving in the opposite direction, that is quite common over here-as I've found to my cost, because the radar beam is wide enough to get you.

If it can detect ,it can record and Print, I want to see the proof my speed was over what I claim.

In Ontario, Canada there is no requirement by law for the police to show a speeder his speed. It's just a courtesy on the part of the officer to offer. I will agree that any officer with a radar gun has the opportunity to abuse the instrument. On the other hand, there are so many speeders out there, why ":lie and cheat."

My wife recently cot a ticket where she was told she was doing 80 in a 40 zone (she says there was no way in hell she was doing over 50) and the cop was on the other side of 2 lanes of traffic.... there was no clear line of sight! On top of it all he was an absolute prick to her about the whole thing. You better believe that we are fighting this one. I know that there are good cops out there, I've dealt with some but there seem to be way more not good ones.

I'm so sorry to hear this. I hope you prevail although I've said this many times, you're in for an uphill battle. If the traffic court system in Canada is anything like the US, you're chances of getting acquitted are slim indeed. Please post the outcome of this matter if you could, thanks.

If the officer was using a laser radar he'd have no difficulty in picking out your wife's vehicle. You weren't there so much as you believe your wife, it doesn't mean she's correct in what she believes to be fact.

She had a friend with her who said as he pulled them over "why is he stopping you? you weren't speeding"

Get a lawyer. The judge will likely listen to them. For you there is but a deaf ear. Pretty sure I posted my ticket for 90 in a 55 story.
TLDR, I didn't do it. I got the deaf ear. Paid the fine. I would rather pay a lawyer. As much as I detest (most of) them.
