I would buy a used Suzuki Sv1000s again. To bad the 3/4 fairing is not available except after market. Don't trust the fit.

I doubt I will ever go back to an FJR1300 (it's a great bike), but if I did I think it would have to be 2016 or newer. I think it was 2016 they went to 6 speed. Although there would probably be a big saving if you could find a 2015 leftover.

Yeah the 16 is when they went to 6 speed and slipper clutch BUT
    1) on the forums guys who've had both (for the most part) say the changes really didn't make that much of a difference. But when I went from my 14 VFR (6 speed) back to a 07 (5 speed) the lack of the 6th gear was one of the first things I noticed.

    2) The 2016s are gawd awful blue, whereas the 14 is a sexy red that matches my 07 VFR and the 15 is that charcoal grey that matches my car.

Does that mean you'd find a Suzuki Hyabusa equally as versatile as the ZX-14? It is the same motor and chassis, right?

That Tracer is interesting, have to see one.
KTM 1290 can haul the mail in the corners and has a lot of speed, and modern goodies too. Seen them in tight stuff and big sweepers with full bags going way fast. The adventure model could be the best all around everything except single track. And I have seen videos of really good riders doing single track with them.
The Tuono tops all of them in handling and power but as said previously small tanks and little wind protection while in the full upright riding position. You can get a nice shield for it and there are more companies making luggage solutions for it. Its still at the top of my list as the gas thing is not a deal breaker for me. After 200 miles I'm getting off any bike.

Red and silver never have I seen cleaner, Red and black I will never go back (Kawi). Copper and silver, you are killing me that I left you. :) Rest in peace my beloved SV! Now back to my girl (red and silver). I have to love her because, if not she is temperamental! She may cease up if I don't give her credit here. I will die on her, or if dying I will tell her that she was the last and my favorite!;-) Plus I still are paying for you so don't shit out on me or I will put you in a car grave yard that you will be compressed into a dodge neon for scrap!;-)

Saw the Tracer in person at the Toronto Motorcycle Show. It did catch my eye. Curious to see how it will stack up against something like a Ducati Multistrada 950 or a BMW S1000XR. Another David and Goliath story.

Well, assuming I can't answer with another VFR 800 8th gen....

....I'd probably go with my second choice, Kawasaki ZX-14r and tour convert it. Bar risers, top box etc. Scary bike, but surprisingly comfortable, smooth and easier to corner than you'd think.

I ultimately replaced my gen5 with a 2013 BMW K1300S. I find the ergonomics to be nearly identical (maybe a little more relaxed than the VFR). At the end of the day, the K1300S is the best motorcycle I've ever owned.

My main home (Toronto, Canada) ride is now a 2017 BMW R1200RS, with the K1300S as my Europe bike (riding it again in June). I still have a gen5 VFR as my west coast (California) bike, which I'll be riding again in May.

These bikes are all in my "can do anything" list. I use them for commuting, long distance touring (several 15000km tours each), spirited riding, everything.

No the Hayabusa is not equal to the ZX14R, although it is a great bike. The 14R is 1441 cc and the frame placement of the tank and engine are considerably different. For me the ZX14R is much smoother and comfortable, and much more agile in the corners.

When you went back the 07 model year that must not have been a VFR. Back in 2006 when I had an 05' ST1300A I had four other bikes all 6 speeds and riding the Honda was always annoying. When I had the 07' FJR1300A I had two other bikes both 6 speeds and riding the FJR was always annoying! I think id you really like the rest of the bike design, 5 speed vs 6 speed isn't that big of a deal.

Now the color of the bike is something that many just cannot get past. My 06 ZX14 (in my avatar) is of course blue. It's just OK for me, but the wife likes it. My 12' ZX14R is black and both me and the wife like it better than the blue. I think I shouldn't based the capability of a bike by it's color, but I do!

I have road a friends ZX-14, it is an awesome bike with lots of power, just a bit bigger. Kind of like the FJ but faster. With a pipe they sound really good.

Both the 12oo and the 14' 800. Painting the chassis black on the 2015 or later models is not appealing to me! That is just me. I like seeing any metal in its true form and not painted. I really like the 12oo wheels that are left alone unlike my 14's gold powder coat. Plastic can and should be painted to taste. I really wish that my 800 had the 10' 1200 color scheme and true aluminum wheels.

I'd get a Tuono V4 1100 Factory. I really wanted the S1000XR until I test rode the Aprilia. Although, the BMW does have hard bags available. I just don't think there is a better every day bike available than the Tuono. I only wonder if the BMW might be better on long trips since it's a little more upright.

The Hayabusa is a mammoth ugly bike IMO ! For me first things first. Insurance, reliability, cost, color then power plant. "Don't marry an ugly women just because she is good in bed because when you wake up she is still there and making you gage, and costing you money". I have to have "Beer Googles" to look at the Hayabusa to even consider sorta speaking" going to bed with that bike." I have always been a Kawi guy. But was converted to Suzuki with the SV. Kawi does a great job. I would take any Kawi 1ooo or beyond to Suzuki's f.cked styling on the bigger bikes. ;-)
