    Hey,

Thinking about shrinking down the stable of bikes I've collected over the years. Have a 2010 VFR1200F, 2013 Triumph Speed Triple, and a 2014 CBR600RR. They've all got their good points, but I'd like to replace them all and just have one bike in the stable, to make life easier.

If you could have just one bike that you could tour with, and also ride like a sport bike, what would it be??

I'd like a bike that has the easy turn-in on curves, like the CBR, which is easier than on the VFR. I'd also like a bike with the leg room of the Speed Triple, and the more upright seating position, like either the Speed Triple or the VFR. So, is there a bike that does all of this? My first thought was that the Kawasaki Ninja 1000R might be the answer. But the bodywork/plastics look a little cheap compared to the Honda, and it makes me wonder if the entire bike is a little on the cheap side. Don't know anything about the performance/handling/braking.

What other bikes might be on that list? As boring as it sounds, the answer might be to just keep the VFR!

I went from an 06' VFR800A and 07' FJR1300A back to my ole favorite 06' ZX14 and then added a 2012 ZX14R. For me it is about as perfect as I can get. With the triple tree lowered about a half inch, getting the suspension dialed in and putting HyperSport S21 tires on it is comfy for the long stretches and handles the twisties much better than most would think. But of course it is not a CBR or ZX10R, but every bit and more of a VFR800 to me. Never have riden a 1200F so not sure about the comparison.

And your last line may well be your answer "As boring as it sounds, the answer might be to just keep the VFR!", but I wouldn't necessarily think that to be boring, the VFR's are great bikes.

Only one bike to replace the three currently in your stable? This is an easy one - 8th gen deluxe FTW! It does EVERYTHING well and many things superbly. It can also hold it's own at the track as can be seen in Smoke's vid below. A certain someone will no doubt be pimping the virtues of the Tuono V4 here very soon but have fun touring on it with a small tank, no centerstand, and no fairing/windscreen to speak of :D

Yes, I've often wondered about the new VFR800. Looked very much from Thailand. Is it made there?

Yes - you can see the Honda bags in this vid - Honda also sells a matching 33L rear trunk if you still need more room.

I was going to say a casket. If I can't ride mine, I sure as hell don't want to be watching other people riding them.

I have three bikes in my stable, and each has it's outstanding points, but none of them is perfect. I love the riding position, tank range, luggage and comfort of my ST1100, plus it's relaxed steering and stability, but not the weight which makes it a bit of a lump in and out of corners. I love the VFR for its smooth, exciting engine and sound, light-ish weight and spirited handling, it's a bit wrist heavy and could do with more leg room, has no fixed luggage. I love my VTR for it's barking engine and easy speed, but this has the most committed ride position and least leg room, and will only do half the distance of the ST1100 on a tank.

Ideally I just want the best of all three in one bike. Upright riding position, light-ish weight, characterful torquey but smooth engine, decent tank range, integrated luggage. I don't need 200bhp or the associated tyre wear. I quite fancy the look of the new Yamaha Tracer GT due out this year, or maybe the KTM Super Duke GT.

My brother got a brand new 850 Commando the first year the 850s came out. Not long after that, he listed it for sale as he was moving to the USA. It was parked out on the street. Stolen over night. Never recovered and not insured for theft. Was a really nice bike, and that sound...oh that was purdy.

Me personally the KTM 1290 Adventure or similar enduro /dual purpose that will do the 1/4 in under or around 11 seconds. Just in case there's a big civil disorder or zombie apocalypse and the roads are out!:Bump2:

Forget IF, I sold my '98 last November. Hope the new owner is enjoying it as much as I did.
He was right, I do miss it. I had it for 80,000 miles and almost 19 years. :Hippie:

Also had a CBR 954, Suzuki DRZ400S, Aprilia Tuono 2003 and also 2007, that roomed with it in my garage during that time.
Still have the '03 Thunder. My OG Italian Supermodel.
But in the spirit of out with the old, in with the new, picked up a '14 Monster 1200 last fall.
    Revvin' and Grinnin'. :D
'03 Ape going up for sale again real soon.

Here are some pictures from Yamaha display at Daytona this year. With and with out bags. Did not get to test drive as I got there to late and all slots were full for the day. Looked good in person and felt good siting on it.

I've had a 05, three 07s and a 14. Since getting hit by that drunk driver in 2016, I've noticed that longer time in the saddle is a bit problematic so over the last year or so I've been looking for a suitable "addition" to my stable. Wanted something slightly bigger but still nimble and after all the searching, I think the FJR1300 is just about the best out there.

Honda hasn't updated the ST since Popeye was a punk, Triumph just seemed a little underwhelming, Kawasaki just felt bulky and BMW is nice but for that price, I'd rather just get a new Goldwing. Only problem now is deciding on a 14 or 15[IMG][IMG]

Looks okay I guess but the name "Tracer" sounds really gay (not that there's anything wrong with that - LOL)
