Oh my oath. This is ridiculous. Time to unsubscribe from this otherwise interesting thread.

Honda could and should make a sport tour machine that comes close to what a Tuono is.

Hi everyone, new forum member here Previously rode an SV650 and a CBR600..I'm in the market for a new bike and I had been wondering why there weren't any newer models for the VFR 800 and this thread has helped me understand why.

I have a question, hope I can get peoples opinions. Does anyone thing it a good idea to buy a bike from a dealership and just have them ship it over.

I live in Utah and the deals I'm seeing are much further away. Thanks

It's very interesting how "everyone" wants a lighter bike with more power but "nobody" shows any interest in increasing their rider skills. I've seen very few people that can handle the capabilities of a VFR other than going in a straight line. Go ride Hwy. 28 from Franklin to The Dragon for the first time then see how you feel about having more power.

I've ridden the Dragon on the 2005 I used to own. Fun road. I've ridden it and my current 99 on tracks, both very capable bikes. Now that my 99 has Q3+ tires, wow is it a blast. I'm hitting boot, knee sliders all at the same time, even the plastic above the knee slider!

That's good if that's what you want to do. Would another ~200cc's really help it be more fun?

I have to agree, my VFR is better than me although I am improving. The power of the VFR is quite adequate, if it were lighter that wouldn't be a bad thing, but it does handle its weight well.

I suppose it depends on the road/track, but I'm satisfied with the power. Of course down the straights riding with the California Superbike School BMW's I'd like more power, but in the turns, it comes down to the rider.

The "everyone" and "nobody" are very broad statements. There are a lot of guys with VFR's on here and VFRD sites and lots not even on a forum that do work on riding skills and want a lighter and more powerful bike. Not many will say they want a heavier and less powerful one. lol
The VFR is a great all arounder you can get for a very low price and that is awesome. For a better bike your going to have to pay a lot more.

No but 50 more hp would! and 90lbs less for the power to weight ratio I want.

Yes, especially the lighter weight!!! Dropping ninety pounds would benefit the bike so much! I've dropped over 60 and it's made a really big difference.

WOW, 60 lbs is awesome! I watched a few guys through the years getting their track and or street bikes down on weight. You can get down fairly quickly for free and comparatively little money. But when you start the big money weight savings rabbit hole...... it can be very expensive.
I got my CBR down to just under 420 lbs with about a 1/4 tank of fuel. Its only 156 rwhp but with the gearing and other bits I have added it still is a very capable track bike. Riding some of the new electronic laced track bikes makes me want the new fangled stuff. lol Old school skills are great but riding with old school skills and using modern hi tech electronics is even better.

Tracking an older well sorted VFR (lighter, no VETC, and no linked brakes) is probably a lot of fun.

Does your ass end start to get a bit out of shape during trail braking?
