Tips for Fitting a Pyramid Extenda Fenda?

    Afternoon Guys,

    New member from the UK having picked up my new VFR800 last Saturday (will get some pics up soon).

    I've ordered a couple of bits from Pyramid Plastics; a Rear Hugger and an Extenda Fenda which I'm planning on fitting over the next few days.

    Has anyone had any experience of fitting the extenda fenda? I'm guessing the front mudguard has to come off however does the wheel also need to be removed to allow this?

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Whereabouts in UK are you?

    Have one fitted to mine. Have fitted to almost every bike I've owned as they are a great bit of kit. They can be fitted with wheel in situ.

    I fitted the Pyramid Fender Extenda, no probs, no need to remove anything just make sure the fender is nice and clean and dry. I used the supplied double sided tap bits and pieces so mating surfaces were pretty close to 100% coverage. I was going to use some Sikaflex adhesive but my tube had gone hard so thought give the tape a try. So far so good, and far cheaper than the Rad guard.

    Thanks for the replies, will give it a go with it on.

    Out of interest has anyone taken the front mudguard off for whatever reason? Easy job?

    Westernmost point on the British mainland. The Ardnamurchan peninsula about 50 miles from Fort William.

    Have had mine off , pretty easy to do if you have the wheel out.

    Sikaflex is proprietary brand of decking adhesive, used a lot over here in caravans, etc

    Hi Dom - my extender came with plastic two-part rivets instead of the self-tapping screws I've had in the past. I was a bit wary of them but they worked perfectly and it's still there after three and a half years so I guess they're OK. Didn't need to take the wheel out to remove the mudguard but it is easier if you do. The other half of the equation is a guard for the top radiator which sits right where a flying stone would go between the forks, if you don't make any other mods I'd strongly recommend you look into one of those. Oh, and welcome, by the way!

    Thanks for the input fella, planning on fitting the extenda fenda this weekend.

    It’s interesting you mention about the rad guard, I was hoping to negate the need for one with the fenda. Had been looking at the R&G one but could have sworn I’d seen a post on one of the forums about needing to cut into the bodywork slightly to fit it!

    What one have you gone for and how easy was fitting it?

    Sorry for the delayed reply, I've been away for a bit of winter sun and only just got back! The fender extender helps look after the lower radiator but won't stop a flying stone from coming over the mudguard and between the forks which is where the upper radiator sits, someone on the UK VFR forum had his punctured in exactly that fashion. I went with R&G as they're the best option in the UK in my opinion, thread here... http://vfrworld.com/threads/upper-radiator-guard.48837/ No cutting required for the rad guard, that's for their crash sliders.
