The reasons behind your helmet purchase. Let us know your thoughts!

Hello All,


I am working with a team of graduate students at the University of California, Davis researching motorcycle helmet safety. Our goal is to understand how helmet safety and personal design preference affect your decision when purchasing a new motorcycle helmet. We would love hear your reasons regarding your recent helmet purchase, safety certifications, and other personal preferences that may influence your purchase.

Is this limited to US citizens as there is different legislation all over the world. As in what may be classed as safe in one wouldn’t be in another.

 

Completed survey. I understand that you have a limited number of questions and that I do not know what the true study is about, but I feel there are a few points missing.

Helmet fit
Quietness of helmet
Ease of putting helmet on and taking off. Simple things like do I have to take my glasses off to take the helmet on and off.
Style: full face, modular, 3/4, 1/2, etc.
Visors and sunshades
Ability to install communication headsets
How often do you replace your helmet
Warranty

For me as well as the questions in your survey were critical to all of my helmet purchases over the last 5 years.

You forgot to include "endorsed by superhero" as an important attribute one might consider when making a helmet purchase

 

In addition to grabcon and GatorGreg;

- Weight
- Ventilation
- (most important after safety and fit) Exterior airflow dynamics, top, bottom, and sides.
- there are many more questions that could have been added!

I took the survey, but seems some of the most important features/considerations have been left out. Perhaps the survey team lacks in riding experience, perhaps they wanted to keep the time frame to participate to a minimum. I would think for the results to be of any value this survey would have easily exceeded 25 questions and perhaps topped out at about 50-75.
