What really transformed the handling of my 99 and my 05 VFR was when I dropped the girls down about 10mm in front and added appointment shine on top of the shock. I've had my bike to about 140 indicated and it's absolutely stable. Even under extreme braking, still stable. I also put my compression front and rear to max.

I will say that the 5th gen is a more sport oriented chassis than the 6th gen.

How many shims have you installed in your 5th gen?
Also, do you have the stock shock, or Dmr (longer than stock), or something else?

I think I have two, or three, they were skinny and bent a little. I have the stock shock. I put enough there so that I got the nut on top, but no threads sticking out past it.
