96 VFR750 newbie

Hi, thanks for the add, picked up a 96 plate 750 last weekend for a steal of a price £100... the last owner couldn’t ride due to a hip op so it’s been sat for 3 years. Now mine ready to restore with lots of help from you all.

So, new battery on, new oil and filter, air filter, fuel filter, new spark plugs (front two were a pain) need to drain the old fuel from the tank and clean the carbs next ready for the big switch on

Just looking at the pics...... Battered, but unbowed.
In U.S. cycles are much more of a toy/luxury item than a mode of transport. Always boggles my mind when people leave them in storage for years. Hoping that they will ride some day. For fun. Who has free time?
The auxiliary systems (brakes, fluid, suspension, tires, fueling, electrical, rubber/gaskets, etc) get destroyed. A diamond trapped in a lava flow!
Just sell the damn thing and move on!! Machines must be run.

Just bought a '94 Goldwing that had a rusty tank and sticky gum for fluids. wtf. All is simple, but carbs are PITA.

I also have a '96 and it was well tended, but ignored by middle-aged Japanese engineer in N. Illinois. I love the engine, I love riding it. It is more beat up, now, but running like a watch. 45k miles. (30+k kilometres?) If you clean this one up and get it working the way you want, it will last for a long time. It looks worth it! Yours looks like it just needs a garage space and some patience. For 100 pounds, you're laughing!!!!!!

 

Sweet deal. I paid $2500 for my 95. I would liked a project like yours instead.
