Just need to correct this as it's not actually true. The new V4 has a 70 degree offset to the crank so 2 cylinders fire quite close together, but not at the same time. In their early days for MotoGP Ducati tried the real big bang idea of actually firing 2 cylinders together at the SAME time, but it was not successful, I believe largely due to the stresses on the engine and I do not believe ANY other teams use this layout for the same reasons.

What is now referred to as 'big bang' is this close firing sequence which apparently provides the benefits they were trying to achieve by firing them 2 at once, but without the stresses on the engine. Even the term 'screamer' is not really accurate since I don't think any V4s actually have even firing pulse timing. Hard to do that in a 4 stroke V4, although it is the natural default for an in-line 4.

In any case, I think Ducati has thrown down the gauntlet with this new Panigale V4 and having messed around for so long, Honda will be hard pressed to even match it. Ducati have also stated their intention to produce a naked version (or so I read and that's my personal interest) and I just don't see Honda understanding the sense of doing that.

If they make a naked version, I could see them putting Motus out of business... Heck, I'd buy a CB1000R before I'd get a Motus, and I'm a V4 fan...

I'm surprised they aren't out of business already! I think Motus can stay around as long as no one steps up with a 180hp sport touring bike at an affordable price... Oh wait... Team Green just threw down that gauntlet and if it sells well ( H2SX)... Watch everybody else follow along in making stupid OP sport touring bikes.

Honda has no interest whatsoever in building a superbike of any kind...they just keep rehashing the same old junk. Apparently, that V4 wet dream, was just that, then, brace yourself for the excitement, they come out with a new lead wing instead. Honda is only interested in making money selling disposable mopeds in Asia and subcompact two wheel cars in the US.

Well it seems certain a new RVF1000 is on its way, but I agree, they do seem to have lost their edge in recent years.

Having said that, I think they've done a great job on the new Gold Wing and also the new CB1000R which is a fine looking bike with a good mix of retro and modern flavours. A far better effort than the previous CB1000R which always looked like it was trying too hard to be modern.

If only they'd style a VFR1200 like that new CB1000R. I can't help but think it would be far more popular than the VFR1200F ever was.

In my opinion, FWIW, Honda's MotoGP bike has as much relevance to their CBRs as a Lamborghini has to my Ford Fusion.

I'm probably wrong, but I don't see the comparison between the two bikes.
