Been lurking here for a while and I figured it was time to introduce myself.

My name is Allen and I recently acquired my dream bike, a 2007 VFR800 25th Anniversary.

I have had it for about 6 months now, but just made my 1st(complete) ride on it yesterday. I will explain..

I traded for the bike with a friend who wanted my R1150GS, as bad as I wanted his VFR. I got it home, unloaded it, made a quick call to Dairyland to put insurance on it and I was off. I was riding along and hit VTEC for the 1st time when the bike shut off. I coasted to a stop and started troubleshooting the problem. I noticed the main fuse beside the battery was blown, so I called my wife and had her run me to the parts store for a 20amp fuse. I replaced the fuse and turned the key on.... nothing happened, until smoke started pouring out of the front fairing. It had become dark and I was frustrated enough to call it a night. We towed it back to my house.

Upon further investigation, I found that the main harness had COMPLETELY melted in two different areas. I ended up replacing the harness and ECU, adding a VFRness and Rick's Rec/Reg while I was at it. I had to basically disassemble the entire bike to remove and replace the main harness. While I was working on it, I came across a great deal on a set of Remus pipes from member "vcyclenut" here on the forum.

After all that work, I was finally able to ride it yesterday. Boy was it worth the wait(and cost). What an amazing machine!!

I plan on this being my touring(light) bike, track bike, commuting bike and so much more.

I look forward to learning from the vast knowledge on this forum and hopefully being able to add to it.

Yeah, I wanted to think he did it on purpose, but there is not way in Hell anyone could have known that was going to happen.
