Photography thread

Tomorrow night, Wednesday after midnight and into Thursday morning is the peak of the Gemini's meteor shower which is the best of the year. Only a crescent moon this year so viewing should be good with about 120 per hour under ideal conditions. Great one to photograph meteor streaks.

 

I sold my last 4x5 view camera about a year ago with all the lenses. It was a sad day, I have taken thousands of photos with that old Sinar.

 

I had an old Sinar too, rebuilt after it had been in a fire ( mostly smoke damage), new bellows, couple of lenses, best one was a Super Angulon which required a rubber bag type bellows.

 

Black & White days, circa 1965, Hasselblad 500C. My favorite car of all times, 1953 MG TF, lot of fun.

 

Some of my friends had Blads and loved them. I went with a Bronica GS in 6x7, wanted a bigger image and not a square. The Zenzanon glass was excellent too. The Japanese copied a lot of the German designs from Blad and Lica.

 

After reading in the astronomy forums a bit about tonights meteor shower I ran across this, very cool perspective by stabilizing the Milkyway.

 

I saw 46 meteors last night with 9 very bright ones and one really big one that split into 2.

 

DAMN IT!! I completely spaced on that, hahaha.

 

I'm bummed I forgot about that!!!

 

You can still see some tonight, just not as many.

I rode the VFR to work yesterday and at the end of the day stuffed a Canon 5D into my back pack. I wanted to do some time-lapse photography of the meteor shower. I had about 75% battery left on the dual battery unit, plenty for what I was going to do. Well I must have flipped the on switch when I put it into my backpack. 12:30 this morning when I set up the camera it was dead. Bummer, missed some good shooting stars.

That is what most homes here in Canada are going to look like by next summer when that shit becomes legal here.
