    Hi guys!

I am an electromechanical engineering student from Belgium.
Earlier on this week I bought my first roadbike (after a few dirtbikes, 125 and 250 2 strokes), being a VF1000F2 from 1996.

I love Honda in general, and when I saw the bike I thought it was perfect for me as a project.

Below you can see a few pictures right after the purchase. The rest of the fairing is also in my posession. [IMG][IMG]

Since it was put away for a few years, the carburetor, cooling circuit, fuel tank,... needs a cleaning. The chassis and fairing needs a bit of love as well, which I will be happy to provide

Current status: trying to get the carburetors off. This seems to be a real hard thing. WD40, compressed air, pulling and agitating... Nothing seems to work.

Looking forward to become a part of this community!

    Cheers,
    Manny

Welcome & good luck to the project.

There are a few people with this vehicle so hopefully you will get answers to any questions you may have.

Thank you Pete! I sure hope so. Currently I am considering to just sacrifice the intake insulators, cut them in half so I can remove the carbs and save the brittle connection rods.
A better solution would be appreciated, although the rubbers are already a bit hard since the removal is this difficult.

The question is what part can you get hold of easier....
I think the rubbers are still available ..

Both are still for sale for the right (oh, the irony) price. I managed to get the carbs off, unfortunately with breaking joint set A (number 16026MB0671 ). Since I have found a broken one in the parts I got with the bike, I assume this is a vulnerable part.
However, the one I found was broken at the other end. Maybe I'll manage to make one out of both, but since it's plastic I doubt it.

I will have to start looking to buy another one or let someone weld it in aluminum, which I prefer.

I decided to 'macgyver it'. This will give me more satisfaction and will improve the learning process. This is also more studentfriendly budgetwise.

    I decided to make this:

    Out of these:

I will use liquid sealing and a shrink sleeve to attach both ends.
