I am truly amazed than in a continent the size of the US there isn't a stand knocking about.

In terms of replacement parts there must be extremely minimal call for centre stand parts, plus given the cost/weight/space I sincerely doubt that there were any in the USA from 2014 onwards, just order from Japan

BMW carry minimal parts in stock, they have a world wide parts network, my sister wrote all the programming

Being in ones cart does not necessarily mean it is in stock. This has happened to me a couple times. Some sites use terms like "available" meaning that it is still being sold but does not mean it is stock.

Revzilla will say an item is in stock when they have it in one of their warehouses and will typically say, "ships within 2-3 days", which means their supplier has it in their warehouse and they need to receive it from them before they ship it to you. I think it was Motorcycle Superstore where I had the worst delay, it took a week before it was shipped and when I called them about it, that's when they told me it wasn't in their warehouse but in their suppliers. So their interpretation of "in stock" was not the same as my interpretation of it. I think they have since changed this and are actually being folded into JP Cycles, as they bought them recently.

Hopefully thtanner will get lucky and the stands are actually "in stock" and not just "available".

At least I know my pit bull stand will make it here ;)

When the order (most likely) gets canceled, I'll just see how well I fare with the pit bull for a while. If I miss the center stand that much I'll piece it together.

Looks to be the exact same as the 6th gen center, actually. Might even use the same bolts to mount up.

    Yep, same p/n.

It's about $140 to piece it together on it's own. Ouch. We'll see if I need to go there.

Update: HondaParts-Direct left a message stating the stand was no longer available as a kit.

I called them back. The status had changed from their call to me and my callback to "in transit" with no ETA, which means most likely fulfillment from Japan.

So currently they are "probably" coming, with no ETA. I said I was in no hurry, so hoping those do show up someday!

So not "in stock" but "somewhat available"...at least where they source their parts seemed to have them.

I am wondering if Honda US got enough orders to replenish them from Japan. All the individual components are available already, so it's just slapping them in a plastic bag with a different p/n.

    We'll see.

Not wanting to put all my eggs in one basket I ordered a pair of centerstand kits directly from Japan. ETA 1 1/2 months.

If I end up with an extra set I'll just put them for sale here/eBay for what I paid.

I'm in the same boat. I ordered a center stand kit for installation prior to delivery back in June. Dealer called me as I was leaving home telling me that the center stand was not available but could be ordered. That was almost 90 days ago.

Very frustrating that a "premiere" vehicle like the VFR doesn't come with one to begin with - for the Base model - and can't buy a kit anywhere.

Where/how did you buy the kit from Japan? I was thinking about phoning my dealer and asking them to "piecemeal" it together but I'm worried I won't have all the necessary bits to complete the job correctly.

You can piece it all together; all the parts are available. Just look at the installation directions / parts fiche and cross-reference. Costs about $160 and no real wait for any of the pieces.

Here is the Japanese place I ordered from. https://japan.webike.net/products/22985804.html

If I end up with 2 spare kits I'll have them posted here for what I paid (no markup.)

Not at all ...as you said Base model, you chose to have that bike, minus the adjustable suspension and a few other things to reduce the price, including no centre stand

I doubt that you could ever buy a 'kit', apart from you two nobody else has sought it from the posts on here, plenty want quick shifter and slipper clutch, etc

Just because there's a part # doesn't mean it's not and always has been special order ....how many do you honestly think they'll sell in a year worldwide?

At the end of the day this has to be the easiest, if not only part you can actually fabricate yourself

    Honestly, I agree with mikem317.

Nobody else has sought it aside from the posts here (a few were on the other site, recently).. because it just recently sold out. A bit of deductive reasoning concludes supply was not an issue until they blew out all of the VFRs at cheap prices, so orders exceeded expectation in that short period of time.

It is frustrating that Honda US chose to neuter the VFR at all and split it into 2 models, unlike any other market. A center stand has always come on the VFR800; this should have been no exception.

You are coming off as being on a bit of a high horse, honestly.

You doubt you could buy it as part of a kit? http://powersports.honda.com/documentum/MW01/08M70-MJM-D00.pdf

They have done the same with others bikes as well Cbr600 is another example that goes back to the 90s.

Thanks thtanner. Did you happen to collect the dozen or so part numbers for all the bolts, collars, etc.? I can do it myself if you haven't and I'll reply back to the thread with all the P/Ns.

That's true. But there were no Deluxe models anywhere near me. At least what I believed was a "good deal". My OTD price for my Base model was VERY nice - nearly half-off MSRP so it was really attractive. When I inked my deal, the dealership said they would install it for me if I bought the kit. $50 total. But I had to take delivery of my machine without the center stand.

I'm sure there are probably several dozen Base model VFR owners RIGHT NOW that want a center stand and are inconvenienced.

It is making chain maintenance much more difficult and less safe. Total PITA.
