    Didn't think so. How does the ABS act when trailing the rear brake during a wheelie? If the front wheel is rotating will it trigger the sensors for the back wheel?

    That would be the simplest way to write the software for the TC by using the data from the ABS, minimal amount of ECU usage too

    wheelies are strictly for show-offs, immature kids, daredevils and idiots........unless you just won a motoGP race ! the cost if something goes wrong far exceeds any thrill.

    I disagree, they are simply fun to do. I don't do them on city streets but I have done a ton of them at the track and on dirt bikes.

    While I agree that stunt wheelies are reckless, after encountering a few unexpected wheelies naturally on the VFR, I kinda figured it was a state of riding I should probably get comfortable with and understand.

    Im not talking big stand up wheelies, just nice power wheelies driving out of a corner. You are correct most tracks won't put up with showing off doing wheelies but a good drive often puts the front wheel a little off the ground.

    The TC has to be off to wheelie the 8th gen...if it's on, it will cut power the moment the front wheel leaves the ground. I have tested it myself. My wheelies were short lived, 1 foot off the ground attempts, so I never hit the rear brake and don't know how the ABS would react.

    I agree that straight up wheelies is just asking for trouble, and they are not what I was referring to.
    Front wheel lift at take off, and from drive out of corners puts a smile on my face.
    My front is never more the 18" off the road, by the time it gets there I'm usually moving over the tank to bring it down, or applying rear brake.
    There is a tight first gear right handed corner on one of my favourite roads that has a small dip then a crest just after apex, when I'm in need of some release, I hit it with full throttle and the front always lifts while still leaned over, it sure is fun.
    However, I never do it if there is other bikes around me, or oncoming traffic.

    You could say that about anything. Wheelies are a way to express emotion while riding. Specifically, the emotion of intense jubilation.

    if you ride skillfully you don't need to use the handlebars to steer once the bike is leaned over.
    once the lean angle is set you can balance it with throttle.

    here's a demonstration


    even with the front wheel off the ground you can still use the gyroscopic forces to countersteer and stand the bike up if you need to, even without traction.

    you can see this in use if you watch some racing and pay attention to corner exits

    Sure do, not while leaned right over, but when starting to bring bike back up. Keep in mind I use Rosso III's with 34psi on the rear when having fun.
    Front wheel is used to initiate turn, cornering is mainly done by rear wheel.
    Sort of, you can corner a lot faster with both wheels on the ground of course.
    I rode my mates Street Tripple around Eastern Creek a while back, and that thing will lift front the wheel in every slow corner.
    What a blast.

    I have never wheeled the front before. 3" inches to anything. I did have a good corner at a decent speed once that popped the entire bike up at the apex about 8"-11". That's when the center stand came down and luckily popped back. Poor bastards behind me (I was in the middle of the pack of 12) that saw this where just waiting for me to High Side. That was back in 96' when cameras where not a thing. I would have liked to have seen the video. I did hear and feel the back end come out a bit, but did not know why until we stopped a few miles afterward. And then I heard from them what happened and how lucky I was. I Have always checked the center stand spring after that one. :) Again I prefer at least two wheels on the ground. For those that can and love it, Good at ya. For those that do 65Degree or higher wheelies may you have good life insurance! ;-)Shit that reminds me to get some! Damnit!!!!;-)
