HRC withdraw Guy Martin from NW200

Honda Racing release statement after John McGuinness crash.

Honda have chosen to withdraw Guy Martin from one of his first international road races in two years after his team-mate John McGuinness suffered a crash in Superbike qualifying.

The full statement from Honda Racing, released just moments ago on their website states:

“During Superbike qualifying at the North West 200 today, Honda Racing’s John McGuinness was involved in an incident at Primrose Hill.

Within a short time of the incident John was transported by ambulance to Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast where he is currently undergoing treatment for a suspected broken right leg.

As is standard procedure following such an incident, John’s motorcycle is being held by race organisers after which time it will be released to the team.

As the team is unable to analyse John’s bike before this evening’s Superstock race, the Honda Racing team has opted to withdraw Guy Martin’s entry in today’s Superstock race as a precaution.

The Honda Racing team and John would like to thank the prompt action of the marshals, circuit staff and emergency services.”

Despite Honda’s withdrawal, racing will take place this evening from 1745 BST and is broadcast live through the BBC.

 

I wonder if Honda thinks there is something wrong with all the bikes........

 

Honda themselves no favours sending the bikes in February so development of suffered

Jason O Halloran took his to 3rd in the second BSB race at the weekend, however Ellison and Haslam, fighting for 2nd, were taken down when Ellisons bike blew the main fuse at cut out at 160, Haslam was inches away, ripped off Ellisons exhaust then off, his bike, yet again, jumped the air cushion and smashed itself to pieces, front wheel off, fuel tank, etc, Ellison walked over to a winded Haslam who got away with bruises

As regards the McGuiness and Martin pair, it's over, McGuiness is out injured, Guy has lost the pace

 

I was a little surprised that Guy came back in the first place.

 

Light rain here all day, been watching practice. Track is actually drying a bit now, lap times are dropping.

Fast enough to break your back, ribs and leg!

 

I was going to say speeds we could only dream of touching :nod:

 

No speeds quoted but it was at a corner so not on the high speed sections -seems to be about 60-80, braking

Primrose is the 2nd bend, the sweeping left hander

One spin off that appears to have been forgotten is Guy Martin needs 6 signatures on his licence to get an International as required at the TT .... having failed to qualify in the 600 class and no Superbike ride I think he's going to be short of signatures
