This was kind of a fluke accident by a very good rider because I almost always ride with good and experienced riders and when I don't I'm very careful who I ride in front and in back of. It took me 20 years and well over 100,000 miles but I finally went down.

I was at a complete stop on the side of the road waiting on traffic and the rider who was next to me and slightly behind me thought the group was going and was looking back at traffic goosed it and SLAMMED into me at full force :tsk: The shot hit me so hard it knocked me over the side of the bike but some how the adrenaline kicked in and I was able to save the right side of the bike while I was on the ground from hitting the pavement. My ankle is twice the size as it should be and I had to ride home without a shifter peg :frown:

After using the search function I'm guessing Service Honda is the place to buy the two fairing parts and shifter peg that I need to buy. But the good news is the rider who did this is a stand up guy and paying for all the parts. Just hope everything matches...

Damn dude! Sorry to hear about your luck. I am glad to hear that you are relatively alright. Paying for your parts (and your doctor co-pays) is the least he can do.

    Wow. That sucks!
Certainly the bike will come together. I hope you're healed and back in the saddle soon.

Hate to hear about your buddy's ooops. Try "mrcycles.com" for your parts. I just got a new gas tank and front fender for my ACE from them. They were PERFECT when I got them. They sent them exactly when they promised, and were $300.00 cheaper than my local dealer! Ask for Brad when ordering. He went out of his way to get the parts painted the correct color, and took extra care making sure the parts arrived is perfect condition.

Glad your ok and that will take some time for your ankle to feel 100%. Service Honda seems to be the best place for factory parts.

Ankle isn't to bad, my Sidi boots saved me, I think it's one of those 3 or 4 day injuries, swelling has mostly went down and now it's just black and blue. What sucked was shifting and riding home with my throbbing ankle on the passenger foot peg...

Man that just sucks big time it's good that physically you're mostly ok.

Their must be some conspiracy to take out VFR's as I was recently rear ended by a Nissan 4*4 that had been stationary behind me waiting for the lights to change from Red to Green, he had no idea why he accelerated on Red just that he had some kind of brain fade.

The bike went down to the right as he smacked into my rear at an angle but luckly saved my VFR from slapping down with only light cosmetic damage courageously using my body as padding. At least he was forthcoming and his insurance company is now in the process of repairing / replacing the damaged bits.

As part of the experienced rider alumni, I vote that we expunge this incident from R.W.'s record as "going down" because the accident was caused by someone else.
Can I get a second motion on the floor?

Ice is your best friend, then heat it when it gets stiff. I did the sorta the same in training camp, and in two days I graduated after running a 5 mile course. hurt like hell in the beginning but in the end everything was good. speedy recovery to you.

    Ouch man! [IMG]

Sidi's saved my ankle when the Blackbird (loaded with 100 pounds of gear) slipped out from under me in an intersection in Penny this summer.

    Hurray for good gear!

I agree that this mishap shouldn't go on record as a "Go Down".

RW - sorry about your mishap- good that your OK. Good luck on your rebuild.
RonAyers is pretty good on body work too. I redid my VFR750 using thier parts - I probably saved $700.

I had an old lady pull out in front of me while I was turning on loose gravel and I made the junior mistake of hitting my front brakes to hard. The crappiest part was that the old woman looked at me and she kept driving. I was doing about 35 mph. I'm still angry over the ordeal.
