When I found my VFR Anniversary Edition last year, I still had my well cared-for '05 FZ1. Instead of Craigslist or Fleabay, I put my FZ1 on consignment at the local Honda dealer. We agreed on a price I needed for the FZ1, and dropped it off. The dealer did not charge a consignment fee - YMMV.

Within 2 weeks, the FZ1 was sold. The dealer ended up getting about $500 in profit. As I found out, dealers have a list of potential buyers for all varieties of motorcycles, so when the right motorcycle becomes available, they start sending out their feelers.

My 390 Duke is for sale, as of just just a few minutes ago.

Ive sold 4 motorcycles on Craigslist. I don't let anyone test ride my motorcycles. I didn't test ride them before l bought them. The buyer has to do their research. My stuff is in perfect condition, and l will stand behind it after the sale.

If you sell on Craigs List, you will get a scammer. The story will start out something like he's going to buy it for his nephew, or he wants you to pay for a carfax report. Keep your guard up.

I test road three VFRS before purchasing one, all on CraigsList.

    Two required cash in hand.

I had no problem with brining and placing the full asking price of cash in the owner's hand while I took his bike for a ride.

I had no intention to purchase until I checked out all possible bikes competing for my hard earned money.

I contacted the owner later, and let him know what his bike was worth to me, and defended the steep discount in price by sharing much of my research with him.

It's a used bike, being sold by an individual not a dealership, and if you are interested in buying it, you should be able to bring the cash in case you crash!

Did you buy the VFR from the same dealer or get a trade in offer from the dealer? Did you get a contract ( in writing) from the dealer? Did the dealer tell you they had this list or did you actually see it? Did you see what the FZ actually sold for?

Dealing with dealers Honda or not, you are on their turf and they do this shit 365 days a year and you/we don't.

Yes, it is that common. I also would have gun in pocket. Cash can cause problems with an "it was that other driver's fault, not mine" when he wrecks your bike. Used bikes can be hard to sell. There aren't very many reasonable people left......

Sad, but I have to believe you. I guess I have gone with the vibe thing. Sold three of my bikes on c/l and two I let ride, one I didn't. He was younger and it was my Ninja 250 so maybe I am ageist (sp?) LOL.

As for gun? That's always on me.

I have no idea what you are trying to convey. The object is to sell your 700 is it not? SoundRider has a for sale area for a few pesos a pop. The ad stays up until the bike is sold or until the seller requests the ad be cancelled.

Be glad to write you an ad once you figure out how it all goes together.

    I appreciate that.

All I was trying to say was, when you search for a particular bike "for sale" like Interceptor, sites like cycletrader and even vfrworld classifieds come up on the first page.
