Road ? Looking at google maps has me seeing this route that looks interesting. Taking 101 north out of Atscadero to Hames, then taking the Jolon rd, west to Jolon. From that head west on Mission rd. till you come to Nacimiento-Fergusson Rd. left again, which by the looks of it winds it way down to Hwy 1 at Mill creek. Is this a paved route? any one been? looks fun?

 

If any of you are planning to take senic route on Highway 1, best to check status, currently:

Yep, did, why I was looking at options to see if its possible to get to Monterrey, but then just getting to Hwy 1 could be ok.. just checking since I don't know the area.

 

We've done a similar route many times. Although we take a more meandering route to Nacimiento-Ferguson Rd. The road is fully paved all the way thru the base, but the road on the otherside of the hill is a tad rough. Paved, but rough, but do-able. Great route to ride, and honestly, if we have a bunch of newbies, that's the route we tend to do.

 

Highway 1 is going to be closed just south of Big Sur for a year or so. Mudslides have severely weakened a bridge that will need total replacement. So there will be no way to ride from Monterey to Morrow Bay.

I suspect by May, most of the landslides will have been cleared so we'll be able to ride from Nacimiento-Ferguson Rd south to 41 at Morrow Bay.

 

Hey RVFR, how many days do you usually take to get down there? I see you are from Oly. Being from the dry side of WA state, I might be able to swing some days off and head down. Could be a fun adventure.

 

Awe. Could be fun, two days to get there. 3 there, 2 back, LOL maybe, if I don't get lost, or is that side tracked.
