Batsh*t crazy video

Saw approx 300,000 bats leave what's billed as the "world's largest bat house" at the University of Florida this evening :glee: I thought some of you might enjoy seeing this vid. The bats leave their house right after sunset and they kept coming long after my phone ran out of power. The smell of batshit was really gross. A couple of hawks arrived and started snatching bats out of midair - unfortunately I had run out of power and didn't get to film their attacks.

Wow, the insect population must plummet every evening in the area.

Is this on university property?

I believe that in my area, bats are struggling with at least one disease, and it would spread rapidly in a dense population like that.


Edit : I just checked the website above. To answer my own question, it is on university property.

 

Reminds of the valley back in the 60's and 70's same bat time same bat channel.
Oh FYI it's falcons that catch prey mid air not hawks.

I think it must be a typo cuz if my math is correct that would be 8,333 bugs per bat. I'm thinking it must really be 2.5 million, not billion. That would result in a much more believable 8.3 bugs per bat.

 

There was an Italian oater called "Aftermath at the OK Corral" that starred Bat Guano.

 

I agree kind of. The bugs could be really small or look for a shitload of fat bats in future.
