Oh bullshit. All the gear doesn't mean all the gear on earth. It means helmet, jacket, pants, boots, gloves, and not skipping because "I'm only going across the street" or "It's kind of hot out."

But some gear is more appropriate for some situations -- a touring suit is not the same as a full race suit, so you don't see racers going 170mph in aerostich suits no matter how appropriate and protective they are for riding on the streets.

They race all sorts of ridiculous shit. Doesn't mean I have to like it. Probably a hell of a lot of fun for the riders -- racing damned near anything is a fun thing to do. Doesn't mean I have to buy it. Britney Spears sold 8 million copies of her second album, and I still don't like it.

It's genuinely possible for me to be right and millions of people to be wrong because it's, you know, MY personal taste.

This sounds like an essay written by a 6th grader. Here is a random fact. Another random fact about the topic is this. John has a big mustache. The chair is against the wall. Not sure who gives a shit, but I was pretty clear that it was not me.

We've been here before. I'm allowed to have an opinion on things. Though I'm sure you probably don't remember me mentioning that as I am pretty sure you get distracted and draw "I heart trump" doodles on your peechee folder when you should be paying attention. I know you have a giant crush on him, but you have to let it go...

Can Ams are Britney Spears. I'm not their demographic. They are just an expensive curiosity, and one that is absolutely not compelling, to me. Author Dave Hough, who I hear is pushing 80, probably is their demographic and I guarantee my opinion (and yours) mean nothing to his enjoyment. And that's good, because it takes all kinds.

My apologies for upsetting you. Might you have a couple of pix of Ms Spears in the bare minimum?

Here's my test ride of the CanAm Spyder (yes, I'm wearing pants :glee: ). I also engage in awkward conversation at the end of the ride with the guide and then salivate over a couple of Aprillias and other things in the motorcycle shop :witless: My apologies for the poor audio quality for the shop tour, my mic had come unclipped at that point.

I know personally of three people who would benefit from a Spyder, one won't because it's not a Harley. He has a Harley trike but doesn't ride it because, honestly, I think the stability, actually non-stability, bothers him. My wife's brother and dad both were bothered with equilibrium problems, and would have ridden a Spyder but they weren't available when they had to quit riding.

My wife was talking to some Spyder riders when we were in Colorado a couple years ago. They were mid 30's, early 40's. She wasn't really thinking about what she was saying, but told them that we had thought they might be fun when we get old. We're both 67. :smile-new:

LOL - you're just getting going at 67! Yeah the Spyder would be a great alternative for people who have trouble with 2 wheels - here's a good review of the Spyder I rode:

Saw a piece on Sunday Morning about Mario Andretti. He still gives rides in the special 2 seater Indy car. Mo Rocca took a ride at Sonoma at over 186 mph! Mario, who is well into his eighties says it's the adrenilin that keeps him going. I agree, keeps me going out and attacking the twisties at 72. Don't need a Spyder!

Mario Andretti: Born: February 28, 1940

That would make him 77. Still.... having fun, going fast.

So I'm on vacay (yes!) in Gainesville tonight after taking GG Jr. to the Univ. of Florida for a campus tour today and I can't believe how many freaking scooters there are here! Waaaaay more than when I was a student. They're everywhere I look and hardly anyone has any gear on - here's a pic where only 1 out of the 9 riders even has a helmet on and I think the girl in the back is texting on her phone :witless: Another sign of how things have changed is this pic of a column in the Orange & Brew where we had lunch - it's covered with wall sockets so students can charge their stupid phones and laptops while they eat :glee: Headed to the Fla Keys tomorrow - woohoo!

If you want to scooters en mass, go to Asia! Mr Google says Taiwan (population 23.5 million) has 15 million scooters! Every traffic light has a repeat of the best Grand Prix start you've ever seen, with the noise and smoke to match.

Oh yeah nothing like Asia but I was still surprised to see seemingly more scooters than bicycles on campus - here's another pic I took:

Being of sound mind and sphincter, I would buy a couple of packs of great leader style just to have them around for those special moments.

Could be that like some Universities (UCLA for example) the distances between classes are not geared for pedestrians. There could also be special dispensations for scooters given by The UofF.

Probably a great place to pick up a scooter for a few pesos around graduation time too..
