I hope to pick one up down the road. My dealer has a white one which is gorgeous. I'm still waiting to see it in red.

has anyone been able to install passenger mini floorboards to their VFR 1200? my wife is physically handicapped and lets face it the stock passenger pegs dont provide much support or confidence.

 

What are the features that all y'all think are great improvements over the 6th Gen?

8th gen pros over 6th gen: mpg, Integrated bag mounts, LED lights, Seat is comfier, room under passenger seat or the cowl for storage, better heat management due to exhaust location, Power outlet, and the suspension adjustability. The 8th gen also feels and is slimmer, lighter, brakes have a touch better feel. Suspension feels more firm but compliant at the softer setting than my 03.
Of course that's comparing to an 03 which had 30k miles. However, 6th gen has some pros over 8th gen too: roomier bags, better lights at night (no dead stop) and can't think of anything else besides uninterrupted look of the swing arm and rear wheel.

How could you forget the biggest improvement of them all? The self-canceling turn signals! :glee:

 

i thought the biggest improvement was not having linked brakes....

 

I did a demo ride and was quite frankly disappointed. I saw no improvement over my 1995 vfr750 which has 40,000 miles on it. Sure the engine was smooth, but it lacked grunt, compared to the torque of mine. Everything else in comparison was similar, a nice bike. But, given the choice of a brand new 4th gen. or an 8th gen. I'd take mine.

 

I know how you feel kind of - I'm in the market for a convertible V8 so I test drove a '17 Camaro SS recently - it was very nice and felt fast but I didn't think it was any better really than my beautiful old mystic teal '97 Z/28 that I bought 20 years ago! I loved that car but I had to trade it for an SUV when I had a kid. I might just look for a super nice low mileage example and save myself some $ and probably be happier. Wish I had a time machine and could go back with a bunch of 2017 dollars, buy the car in 1997 dollars, and bring it back to 2017 :glee:

 

Oh yeah! I actually like them and they work well if people used turn signals how they were meant to

 

Out here in LA no one uses turn signals, my biggest besides yappin on the phone pet peeves.
It's like hey asshat turn signals aren't optional, there made for a reason

AFTER putting on a slip on, the 8th gen. has a much broader useable torque band. It is still a very heavy bike though. Honda needs to put it on a diet the the perceived lack of HP won't be there.

LMAO I just saw your comment here! I'm usually pretty good about not exhuming - don't know what my excuse was in this case! Maybe I saw this linked in another thread? Sorry about that!

 

Put an aftermarket slip on and the 8th gen will run away from the 6th gen at low rpms such as in mountain twisties. The 8th gen doesn't seem to care what gear it's in at low rpms and at higher rpms responds every bit as well if not better than a sixth or fifth gen. I own an 8th gen and have owned 5th and 6th gens. The 8th gen. has a much wider useable torque range. As far as most of the dysfunctional farkles on the deluxe, I passed on them and got the standard with a free dealer installed center stand as negotiated with the dealer. The 8th gen. is a great bike. It's the only bike I've owned that doesn't seem to care whether it's at low or high rpms in any gear. Red is the fastest color of course.
