As I sit looking out my window at yet another dump of snow, I'm pondering the existence of a seat cowl for my unrestored 1985 VF500 Interceptor. A very rare item but maybe there's still hope...

It's a long off season up north, lads, so get off yer :drinker:arses.....
and draw up a digital computer model to have transferred to a 3-D printer and output in plastic. Done and dusted ! Math and computers.

One owner of the item in question could send photos or dimensions to work from.

I have a 3D printer ive been fiddling with here at home. Let me know...I could try to fashion one for you.

Perfect results are not guaranteed...but some type of result is.

Better off molding one out of fiberglass or CF ... unless you have a really good high quality 3D printer, it'll look like shit.

Make a template out of wood or some sort of chemical resistant foam. Then lay your fiber of choice and resin ...

On that note, did they even make a solo seat cover for the 1st gen? I don't believe that I've ever seen one??

I'd volunteer to make the CAD file if someone else would be willing to manufacture me one!!

I'd pay for shipping and material cost?

Edit: And then we'd have an open source file for everyone to enjoy!

Can't remember ever seeing one for the production bikes, but here is a picture of a HRC 750 want to be:

Maybe you could track down one of those.

I don't think even HRC made one:

Yes, they made them for 84 and 85 VF500F. I have one sitting on a shelf.
86 they did not offer one and made the rear grab handle taller.

I don't know if honda ever did but there are a bunch of custom ones on google, this is my favourite because the grab handle is still accessible:

Long time ago, but I am sure some after market companies made one when the bike was popular. Google search shows a couple:

What you could do, is have someone 3D print a plug for you to lay your FG / CF on ....
