Motorcycle News in the UK filed a couple of pages with recycled news following Honda obtaining a few patents that seems to point at there being a new V4 on the market in 2019, the patents were for RCV213 type intake and other aerodynamics possibly to fit a monocoque frame

Only 2 points stood out to me, engine to be RCV213 derived (which one?) and anticipated price under €40,000, about $38,000 USD

Makes me wonder just who is the target market

Here's my "un-cherry picked post" just for the record again:

So IF it turns to reality, who's going to buy one and do what with it besides play on the track with it, which would be total fun. Totally not practical for the street if one uses the HP, if it's significantly high. Looks like it loses the SSA. Most people can't come close to using all the power the VFR has on a twisty road. It would be nice to have in the line-up but not too practical for how most people use their VFR's. No comparison between the bikes most likely. Sounds like more dreaming. VFR folks, including me, just like the V4 engine for a lot of reasons. Honda doesn't seem to be in that camp. We shall see.

What was the MSRP of the RC30/VFR750R compared to the VFR750F back in the day? Also, were dealers commanding a premium over MSRP on sales of the RC30 or were they not popular enough then for dealers to get away with that?

I'd be VERY happy if Honda would simply make a VFR1000 with the exact same design as the 8th gen - with maybe 140 hp instead of 104 hp - and charge a $2K premium over the price of the 8th gen. I have no interest in spending $40K on a motorcycle at this stage of my life - LOL.

Ducati will have a V4 superbike before Honda....wouldn't be surprised if KTM had one before Honda too.

They will all be the same...in order to be homologated for WSBK, the maximum price is 40,000 euros....unless they don't plan on racing in WSBK, then there is no limit. Honda sold out all of their RC213VS machines in short order at $186K a piece, so their is a high end market. My hunch is that Ducati will want to race theirs. KTM, probably not.
