How far will an 8th gen. go on a tank of gasoline when ridden hard?

If the tank holds 5.2 gallons it will go about 218 miles to empty in mountain twisties ridden fairly hard on real gasoline. There were hard up mountain runs, quick down mountain runs, tight twisties and several high speed sweepers. Almost no straight line riding. 42 mpg avg. is pretty good in that stuff at some high rpms I think.

I just put 4.928 gallons of gasoline in the tank with 207.1 miles on the trip meter. The yellow fuel pump light was on and
the last fuel gauge bar was blinking. So, doing the math, I had another 11 miles to go. Moral to all this.....I could have run the last
    few twisties much harder. :eek:nthego:

You're right. I had another 28 miles to go. That's good to know.

    Are you sure?
Honda's USA website says 8th gen has a 5.2 gallon tank.
Honda's Canadian and Australian websites both say it has a 21.5 liter tank.
    21.5 liters = 5.680 US gallons.
    5.680 - 5.2 = 0.480
So there's an almost half gallon disparity here - which one is correct? Has anyone pumped more than 5.2 gallons into their 8th gen's tank?

Just checked, and you are correct about Honda's site showing 5.2 gal. Pretty strange, since my factory owners manual and factory shop manual both say 5.6. And all the info from 2014, including the Cycleworld issue from 9/14 that I still have, says 5.6. Maybe it was designed to be 5.6, but further testing showed that it couldn't hold that much...I don't know.

Yeah my owners manual also says 5.60 US gal (21.2 liters), but I've never pumped anywhere near that. I was on 1 bar today (not flashing) and I could only squeeze 4.2 gallons in. I wonder what the 6th and 5th gens held?

The 6th gen has always been declared at 5.8 gal.

Now that it's been brought up, I see both size tanks in print. Oh well, I just know not to run it far after the last bar flashes. I either has 11 or 28 miles left to empty....if it will empty the tank.
