To be honest, if this was my 6 Gen, I'd definitely would be replacing it for an 8 Gen. For me though, the 5 Gen just feels like a great play bike, not that an 8 Gen isn't or couldn't be, just something about the 5 Gen that I like and I want to keep it as such. Maybe it's the GDC engine or just the feel of the bike as a whole but ultimately I would like a 5 Gen in my stable.

you know how it when you're all tanked up on whiskey!
    Hah yup I know

It's strange that you and the CHP didn't see anything on the road like coolant or oil
Wonder if you had some kind of failure with the bike?

The CHP officer said that this happened to his brother just recently and kind of felt that maybe the road had some sort of substance on it but he didn't feel it was prudent to block the exit to figure it out. He and I agreed that sometimes it's the "perfect storm" that causes this and left it at that. For me, the important thing is I don't feel I did anything out of the ordinary and I would take this corner again in the same manner as I did this time and the many times prior. In all honesty, I don't think there was any bike failure either. You know the saying...sometimes $hit happens!

Toss in the rear brakes and the swingarm and I'll give ya five pesos for that old junky rear wheel if you'll pay the shipping. BTW, I need the tire too. ;)

There are things here that are not served around the old campfire. Not so much that they are not fit victuals but some of the bigger cats and bears can eat you. This accounts for several harleydoods that go MIA each year.

As great of a bargain the 5th gen is, IDK, that RSV4 is a sweet one. ;)

Speaking of Road kill, I did my fare share of helping out, but couldn't find anyone in need of some venison.

But quite bit more expensive than the 5 Gen...so a bargain would be relative to income I guess.

I headed off before dawn for a spirited 350km run on the VFR today. As it is mid-summer here, the initial temperature (10C/50F) was a little surprising (expecting a high of 26C) , and I got to use my heated grips! The bigger problem was fog, and some reasonable temperature differences between cold valleys and warm ridges, which caused heavy misting to form on the outside of the visor a few times, and required frequent wiping, especially with a low sun angle. My mirrors stayed completely fogged over for about an hour. Still, the roads were empty and dry, and I got home before the heat got up enough to cause the tar to start melting. The bike ran and handled flawlessly, and is creeping closer to the big 100,000km mark.

Some happy snaps of my outing (using stealth mode for my number plate!):

Hi Terry, beautiful countryside for a long cruise there and the pleasant temps!

Yesterday morning I headed out on a cruise from hinterland to coast, met up with a group of other riders, then back via a favourite watering hole, with live band. The early morning was like yours, foggy, mist on the visor and sun head-on but with a few passing cattle trucks to avoid and on the inside fractured bitumen edges. If strong early morning coffee didn't fully wake a person the first passing truck does. Temps started out at a pleasant 22 deg C and ended up a sweltering 37 deg C (over 98 F). This is one hell-of-a hot summer, mid week forecast to be 41 C.

Terry you have a way with the written word. Sounds like one of those rides you wouldn't trade.

Thanks SFD; in my mind all rides are irreplaceable. One day, I'll be too old/infirm and then happy memories will be all I have. YOLO.

Memories are what I cherish the most. They are yours to keep. They are priceless souvenirs. There are thousands waiting to be made every day. No memory is like another. No one can take them from you. YOLO

That color scheme is even better than the RWB factory trim on the 6th. I really like it.
