Isn't it great when you find a trust worthy go the distance shop. As sad as it is these are getting fewer and fewer these days. Tires being mount on our bikes especially the rear is an art form it seems. I take the rims off, I've seen to many problems and damage if you take the bike in. Then add most don't have the ability to spin balance our rear wheel, What? Good on you Lint, sounds like you did ok ;)

I took my VFR1100ST out for a 500km run yesterday, around the Coromandel Peninsula, which is motorcycling heaven (or hell for people who get motion sickness in cars). Here's a short on-board clip of a particularly intense section.

    Whoo Hoo!!! :whoo:

Big Thanks for sharing that Terry.

It's the middle of winter here in the Frozen Wastelands and that clip was exactly what I needed to lift my spirits.

Gotta admit I was sitting here in my computer chair leaning hard over and dragging knees while watching your vid.

New tires and powdercoated wheels mounted[IMG]

Space is a bit of a premium right now.
New chain and sprockets later in the week and we'll be good to go.

Honest question here: What's the newer design EVO got over a BT023? I get what the newer tread pattern is supposed to do but the 023's are SO much less costly and they perform well in every department for me. I do run the snot out of any tire and end up with no chicken strips on the rear in the Smoky's very near where I live.

For reference, I never got more than 2200 miles from a Michelin PR2 rear and was elated to get 4700 miles out of the last 023 rear which is the highest I've ever gotten from any rear tire of any kind on a VFR. The tight twisty's go by really quick when I ride. I don't ride but very few miles in a straight line. Just curious what benefit I would get on a more expensive tire. I would get softer tires but ST tires stick well for me and softer tires would just get eaten that much quicker.

Oh, today, my VFR sat in the garage while it poured buckets full of rain outside.

Imagine how hard it was for me to drive 2000 miles around California with my family in 2014. On the WRONG side of the road.

I had the 23's & liked them on this bike - totally predictable & soft. Not a Touring tyre - lol
I have the Evo's now (NOT the Evo GT's) & they are ok. Fairly predicable, good in the WET, & seem to last. A good touring tyre...

I may go back to the the 23's after as I feel they are more flickable, & that is my style too. I'm very heavy on the front & like the bike to go where I point it.

If you Google Ron Haslam T30, he explains it well.

All I could do today is look at all three of my bikes! Apart from the non-stop rain today, I caught some sort of cold last night, I was tossing and turning from the time I went to bed at 10 PM until about 5 AM this morning. I had the strangest fever dreams! I'm glad I did get out to run some errands on the bike Saturday, although nothing to write home about.

I did get some new rain gear ordered and got the pants on Friday, jacket is supposed to show up next week. My current setup seems to be a bit leaky so ordered the new stuff for the next round of rainy days. I'd prefer to not have to ride in the rain but also prefer to not have to sit in stopped traffic for hours, even if it's in a warm dry car!

Been riding the VFR for work a lot and errands. Rode the DR 650 today for fun out in the woods. I had not rode it for almost 3 weeks, been working a lot. Battery was low so I put it on a battery tender and it started fine this morning. Well I stalled it out In the woods in some crazy Florida muck tight technical stuff and when I tried to start it the battery was having trouble. I was many miles from the nearest dirt road and thought I had really screwed the pooch. Pulled the headlight connector and let it sit for 5. Fired up just as the starter was giving up. Hauled ass out of there. Usually ride with a buddy but soloed today. Glad I made it home without the long walk of shame.

Yeah the last run home was a full 2 hours in the rain. For the most part the jacket I had under the rain suit did a great job of keeping me dry but the rain suit pants eventually leaked enough to get the crotch area of my pants a little wet. I used the last of my Revzilla prize cash and got a new jacket from them. The pants I got from Competition Accessories on a close out deal. It's a mix and match set but hopefully it'll work out better than what I have now.
