WT... whata know, it's been since Sept 28th. I had an errand to run and thought damn it's only 36 out dry, no snow on the road , on the shoulder yes, Still lets take the Viffer. Oh my, even with decent gear, which BTW was kinda tight, I knew I had gained weight, Grr%$#! time for the gym or planks or? Any way colder than a witches tit, Brrr... but O that sound.

Changed the grips on the 6 Gen. Went old school and used a non conventional product to slip the grip on and help it stick to the bar.

Also use the tried and true holding method, safety wire

Both methods worked like a charm!

Letting it and me rest today. Yesterday, we did 220 miles of mostly blazing fast twistys. However, there is an evil, excruciatingly boring 25 miles of almost vacant 4 lane to get where I went so I "exceeded the speed limit" to cut down on the boredom. Rolled on the throttle in 6th gear and it pulled very hard and quick to 131 then I had to coast down to the welcomed exit. The trip back was the fastest 100 miles I ever covered to get home before sundown (dark visor). The thing doesn't use much gas compared to other generations. I have no doubt that with gasoline (that's all I use) and a slip-on, the top end will come quicker than either the 5th or 6th gen. I had and that it will at least be as high on top end. Let the arguments fly, LOL!!!!

Well, I was coaxed out of the house to go for as ride in the BU  Like I'd have to be coaxed! Anyway, not the best weather today but a lot better than this past week. Temps were in the upper 40's to mid 50's most of the day, but nothing good gear wouldn't cure!

We rode a few of the familiar roads, like this one. Anyone watch Youtube vids of 'The Snake'?

    Yep, the infamous corner...

Also got a a "vista" or two on the route but pictures from an action cam really don't do Malibu Justice!

Although not from today, I did do a couple of rides the past weekends, just never got around to extracting pics and getting them posted!

This is a view of Catalina Island from Laguna Beach, a location called 'Top of the World'.

This is in the opposite direction of the pic above.

A little snow had fallen on one of the peaks in the mountain range in the background.

Holy ocean!! That first photo!!!! One thing I remember coming down from Mulholland towards to the ocean is that the horizon of the water seemed to be taller than where I was on land. If that makes sense.

It was like I was looking up at a wall of water. I didn't believe it at first that it was the water. But it was. Anyways, so surreal. You are so lucky to live where you do.

No one pines to ride to Kansas. Ha

    Thank you for sharing!!!!!!!

This is a few weeks ago. The noble steed waiting to tackle the roads of Malibu. You can see where the Harley had parked previously

If you look hard enough, there is Catalina in the background on the right and Palos Verdes on the left.

    Zoomed in a little bit...

I put grips and a throttlemeister on mine yesterday. The throttlemeister was not working right at first and I though it was the grip, so I fucked it up -- I bought two sets of grips just in case that happened, so I might pop the second set on. Nobody will notice the bad trim job but me, but nobody notices any of the small things I do so might as well make it perfect.

The throttlemeister comes with heavy bar end weights. They're enough to take away most of the the buzzing grip problems I was having. I've been using beemer budies Grip Buddies, and may still get another set once I get my grips set, but even running without the grip buddies I got no tingly fingers.

While testing, I decided I still hate the rear suspension. Someone had done a racetech job and it's just not right for me. Really harsh over the bigger bumps, and I think it's just not sprung right. No matter how I do the preload I can't get the rebound damping right without being harsh, especially over big bumps or little potholes. I hate the idea of parking the bike, but I'm seriously tempted to yank it and send it to Daugherty to get it valved and sprung for my fat ass.

    SUPER nice day.

For those who aren't from here, Catalina is far enough off the coast it isn't always so visible. Probably 40-45 miles from that hiking spot. The West has been getting a lot of rain, but the couple of days in between storms have be really nice in Southern California. Yesterday I was coming over the hill by my house at sunset and could see San Clemente peaking over the horizon, which is 65 miles out. Felt really good just to get out on the bike, but the scenery was particularly vibrant yesterday afternoon.

Sometimes on a clear day the mainland is visable from Avalon too. Same deal from San Clemente.

If ya got big pesos Catalina can be seen from the Trump digs on the old site of Marineland of the Pacific in PV.

Catalina is a little more "user friendly" than San Clemente.. US Navy stuff that ain't for us civilians. Same goes for much of Catalina unless permission is granted by what used to be the Island Company.

Is your shock an aftermarket shock or stock? If it's stock, rather than remove the one you have on the bike, I'd be willing to loan you the removed stock one off my bike. I can send it to Jamie for you and you can send me yours once the one from Jamie comes back to you. This way you can get your rebuild done without having to put the bike on stands for a while. I have a 5 Gen and 6 Gen shock sitting in the garage just collecting dust, so no biggie if it's gone for a few weeks. I keep them just in case I have to do the same sometime down the road.

As a kid I only knew of Catalina, my surprise as an adult was that there are actually 8 islands, two of which are still under military control (San Clemente and San Nicolas). If memory serves me right, the remaining islands you are able to visit, as they are part of the National Parks system. Never been there myself but who knows, I may get there sometime in the future.
