A similar language ruling is done in Spain by (??) The Spanish Academy. They officially drop things from the language. Many deletions are antiquated little used verb forms.

Spanish is another language that really varies from place to place. There are subtle variations of English even in the same city.

Yeah, spanish can get pretty accented, too. The Argentine ll (pronounced SH not ellye) so Calle sounds like Cah shay. Mexicans slur, use a lot of curse words and Americanisms. Castilians with their lisp.

Ever been in a Mexican restaurant and seen a busser or waiter touch his elbow to get someone to bring a glass of tap water? Spanish will call someone cheap that way. There's a phrase in Mexican "he's talking out his elbow..." tha'ts a whole new level

Spanish has been a world-wide language in a much larger way for as long as there has been a thing as colonialism. The dialects that have come from it are quite interesting.

    It's a tough question.
I went to Montreal once and it took me about 1 day to understand what people were saying. Besides the strong accent, they are many expressions in quebec language that don't exist in france french . Some of those come from the 16th and 17th century french and many others are direct translation from US expressions.

teaching is more than a noble profession, it's a vocation. I never had that vocation, that's why I went to research. However, I really admire those people who have that vocation. We all remember teachers who inspired our adult life. Personnally, I hardly repeat twice the same thing without getting nervous.

Then ya got Spanglish..and the variations influenced by immigrants. There are colonies of all manner of ethnic and the religious that add to the language. Lived in Guadalajara for a year..My Spanish was only fair then as I discovered when listening in to business or technical talk.

Had some little "vatos" in my classes who were barely conversational in either language or suffering from the syndrome we called "Mini-Macho Disease", who were determined to call the local convenience stores, "grocerias".

Kind of an overview of my old "hood".

The attrition rate in the vocation is heavily influenced by eighth graders.

I had some teachers, that I swear, were Hell's Angels". Mrs. Butcher was just that. The worst and meanest 6th grade teacher that ever taught. I remember her in every wrong way I would want to be remembered. Every profession has the good and the bad. Glad to hear you believe in what you do, AM.

Man! I have never done this. Probably never will! I always thought that a few more of us would be around if they hadn't tried this with the cagers.

AM this is last years trip in Colorado. She tells her kids detailed stories about being in the wild. We climbers Longs peak on the trip and while out climbing the wind broke poles in our tent. Was very scary climbing in wind that was blowing that hard. We got little sleep the night before as it howled all night and the tent was on our faces at times. Kids love that stuff.

It's not for everyone and I know a few riders who are still here because they could do this. I avoided being rear ended at least once because I was able to slip between the cages. Don't know what my physical outcome would have been but I'm sure the bike would have been totaled!

If done at the right speed and with a very cautious riding attitude, it is actually pretty safe. When/where it becomes more hazardous is when traffic flow is a lot different among the different lanes of traffic. When one lane is moving faster than the others, drivers have a tendency to just jump over into to faster moving lane without really paying attention, this is when riders get tagged. The other is when riders don't pay attention and go too fast to react in time to said driver action.

Been doing since 84, mainly on the 5 in LA when traffic was at a crawl. Don't ride the freeways much any more, just do it at lights when cars are stopped first.

Holy Rockies, these photos!! I have to share with my kids...and tell them of your experience in the wind!!

Thank you for sharing! Beautiful, creative, and inspiring! Nothing like the Rockies...

I have never hiked in the mountains before, but it's something I intend to start...especially when I move out of KS. My <3 has a new beckoning now.
