I heard the rumor was the crank was so long, it was easy to twist. Nobody ever rode one in our group then. Said it came out of a collection to make room for European bikes. Pictures show it is immaculate.

I remember working on the CBX had to unbolt and tilt the motor forward to change plugs or do a valve adjustment was not to bad really well thought out. on the other hand syncing the carbs was a nightmare. Put on a set of 6 into 1 headers and OH! that was one sweet sounding machine. Heavy as a brick and not very fast but would not mind having one now just for the memories. The 1st models did not have the fairing and bags just a naked. I think Honda added the fairing and bags to make it a touring machine cause it was so big and heavy.

A six cylinder bike in the olden days? That couldn't have been a Honda. Everyone knows that Honda is not an innovative company.

$11K for the CBX is, at this time anyway, the pointy end of values. Rare to a point, but they did make quite a few of them, and very many were not ridden all that much. so, they tend to have low miles. Pretty much an extremely cool novelty when new, same now. Finding a first generation Gold Wing with 10K miles? Now, THAT would be hard to do.

Anybody want to take a shot at the overused term "classic", with specifics? There are some references in UK as to classic and antique.

Had dude from Microsoft tell me the 25k he has just dumped into a 1949 Dodge that was exactly like his grandpappys was a classic. Bike wise was the Triumph looking Yamaha vertical twins the were made for over 20 years. Another are the 500 cc Royal Enfield singes.

Not sure how classic this one is but the last silverwing I saw for sell was a &@!# scooter

    http://chattanooga.craigslist.org/mcy/5926328154.html

Not sure where this falls in the generational history of the silver/ gold wing but the cylinders sticking out like the old 500's says it didn't yet use it's own completely unique line of engine .?

I guess I should titled this thread "Unusual" bikes for sale, like the $55,000 Ducati, really not a classic.

My best pal worked at a Honda dealer in 1982 and I recall they couldn't give these away then. I think everyone wanted the GS1100E or GPZ1100 at that time so the CBX sat. What do I know, though. I was riding a fooking Yamaha Vision, not a classic

When the CBX came out in 1979, the head mechanic at Motorcycles Unlimited in Corte Madera, CA had one that was turbocharged. I was riding RD400's at the time and the shriek from that thing made an RD sound like it was powered by a Cox .049 engine.

Looks great from a distance, but hover over some of the pictures and you will see heavy rust and neglect, look at left handle bar, looks like it spent time outside. Also, no reserve.
