On a brighter note if ever you get a chance to try an inexpensive Ozzie delicacy called "Tim Tam Slam" where you suck coffee or chocolate milk though a Tim Tam biscuit you should, just make sure you do it with cloths and in area that's easy to clean up afterwards.

That technique was invented in Texas years ago using a cueball and 10' (2.9 M) of garden hose for training.

In actual practice under Texas rules, all contestants must use genuine Texas made Moon Pies and Big Red.

Sure it's been around for ever under various names in different states Tim Tam "Slam" is just the current popular name for it but Arnotts have called it Tim Tam "Suck" in the past and I remember calling it simply Tim Tam "straw" when I were young which is sadly a much earlier than 30 years ago. The reason it came up a Pom at work brought in a packet of Tim Tams yesterday and had never heard of sucking coffee through it thought the easiest way to describe it was via Youtube.

 

This is most definitely an Eastern Grey Kangaroo. Very common and often seen grazing on the roadside. They can jump high, easily clearing livestock fences. You definitely don't want to run into one.

Kangaroos have no road sense either, there's been a few times I've slowed for them crossing in one direction only to find they must have left their handbag behind as they turn around to head back where they came from.

Roo's aren't the only fun animal you come across, here is a red belly about to rear to have a go at me as recorded by a mate somewhere on the Bruthen-Nowa Nowa Rd, Victoria.

 

Texas, also known for it's wide open spaces, has a similar make your meal fun tradition involving a Moon Pie and a bottle of Big Red. Contestants come from far and wide to the yearly contest. The winners are said to practice all year long for this timed event by sucking a cue ball through 10' of garden hose. 10' of garden hose is aboot give or take, 3 meters.

 

Yeah John, Red Bellys will strike when they're aggravated. I mostly come across them getting around the farm on the quad, sometimes Eastern Browns. They can be a nasty deadly snake. But at the Queensland farm I had a really close strike from a + 3 metre long Taipan. For you guys in the states, they're the 2nd most deadly snake in the world, probably the fastest and most aggressive snake. Even now I get a flushed chill recalling that encounter. Few survive a Taipan bite. Once when on the quad I came upon a Red Belly I was about to stop to open a gate, the snake instead of going away it slid up into the quad as I jumped off. So, I walked home to give the snake time to depart the Suzuki in its own time. ;-)

 

Hey Anne Marie, fortunately I've not hit a large animal while riding, like in the video clip, that was quite amazing the rider stayed on. I've been swiped by a truck side mirror where I was thrown down on the bitumen. But the freakiest escape from a crash I've had, moto-into-moto kind of head-on, knuckle to knuckle clash was on my IT 250 riding along a narrow track at about 90 km/h. The other guy on a Honda XR was approaching at about the same speed. Neither of us came off. For myself, my R side handlebar was bent back, it was all slow motion trying to control the bike and slow down while avoiding trees to the side of the track. It was a weird, freakish way to meet someone out in the forests. Hehe! We both ended up in hospital with broken fingers, lucky escape.

Back to the Tim Tams, there's all kinds of flavours these days here in Au, maybe too in the states. I recommend your first taste sensation be from the "original". Great with a good coffee. BTW I'm not really into adulteration of Tim Tams with that odd Aussie slam pastime! LOL

 

When I was growing up on a farm down in Gippsland, during the warmer months , anytime we were out and about we always carried a piece of chain, this is the best snake killer, because when you swing the chain and it hits the ground it flattens out so you have a wide strike area, with a stick you have to be much more accurate, chain gets them every time
