Just got signed up at work, so no pics yet. Used to ride atv's & dirt bikes, now I'm riding cruisers. Got on here since I purchased an 85 1000R back in January. Debating on what to do with it, hasn't ran in a few years and the tank has a nice dent in it.

In Roy, I'll get some pics tomorrow. Got it tore down now. The dude that owned it before me let it sit for a few years. Trying to get it cleaned out, bit of a project. I'll get some tank pics, maybe y'all can point me in a better direction. Needs some good TLC, been neglected! Least the fairings in damn good condition!

Finally got the photos on here. It's in good shape, except for the tank. Been sitting 3-4 years before I got it, so I'm going to get it going again. Hopefully by this summer, see how it goes. Getting ready to ride Hogs down in Arizona, so this is on the back burner for a week or two.

Nothing like a nice pic of a dented tank IMO.

Yessssss. That's a bitch'n dent. I would reach out to zoom-zoom and get his take on this. He is in the buz of paint less dent removal. I know we are not looking at a paint less repair here but he did very recently work his wonders on a Harley tank.

Yeah, good times. I have to clean all the rust out of the inside as well. Soaked it in JetA for about 2 weeks, helped get the lines and a lot of junk out of it. tried it on the pump and filter, no luck though. Got a new one off a 90 something car that was same specs.

Looks like a crease from an impact or a serious tank slapper. The damage extends to the filler port. IMO that tank is toast unless somebody wanted to pour a shitload of pesos into a fix.

Yeah, I got a small stud welder I'm gonna see what I can do with it. Going to try some chain and heat first, since I have to clean the inside anyway. Guess the guy that had it before me let it fall over in the shop. So he said anyway. Worth a shot at least, give me something to do. Hahaahaaaaaa

Get a gallon of Bondo too. ;)

Was the filler cap dented too?

One of the inventors of stud welding equipment was a neighbor when I was a kid. Edward Dash.

The filler cap is good. Took it off to clean out the inside. Hopefully I'll only need half a gallon when I get it done.
