Every time I go to the gym, I'm so happy to be there. I walk in excited, scan the environment looking for anyone I know, smile at others, sing aloud even though I'm terrible, crack up at videos I watch, and try to engage in friendly conversation. RARELY do I get a smile in return or even a brief convo from a normal peep...tho creepers abound. Tonight was particularly daunting. Peeps look at me like I'm cray cray to be happy at the gym. What gives? Are you happy or do you have the workout blues? I feel like forming a posse of ridiculous 80s workout folks and bombing the gym just for smiles and to liven up the place. Something like this: https://youtu.be/51kpXa8AZE8
You know what they say, No pic, didn't happen.. but.. yea whats that all about anyway. seems odd there isn't more of an open friendly atmosphere, you're all in the same boat, go figure , huh.
Catchy tune I must say--- Anne make your own for us--- can't wait-- so excited Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm almost always in a good mood at the gym because I typically ride my VFR up there - so I walk in like I'm on cloud nine and in anticipation of the exhilirating ride home. There's quite an eclectic group there - all shapes, sizes, ages, sexes, ethnicities, etc. Most of them are pretty friendly but there are a few folks I steer clear of. Wow, those 80's people in that vid looked like aliens from another planet - I remember my mom being all into the jazzercise thing back in the eighties - LOL. Here's another cheesy 80's exercise vid for you :tongue-new:
Maybe the answer is everybody has to ride a motorcycle to the gym! I vote for that! Geez, I totally haven't seen that video in ages. Haha It's hilarious that you mention your mom jazzercising. My mom was into that and all the neon wears. Then add the neon lights in the gym that lit up those neon wears even more. I was a scarred 80s child. The music rocked though!!
Wow, what a foxxy fox. Not being messogonistic (sic) you get endorphins from excercise. I do a cardio work out to music and television at my house about 5-6 days a week. Its a life extender and it just makes me feel like i flipped off the gawds of being sedentary. If i miss it i feel bad. Guess i am giving my brain something huh. Nice thread starter, stay in shape to ride them motorcycles eace:
You've CHOSEN to be a happy person with a friendly personality and that explains part of the reason you see what you see. I also believe, that in general, there is a lot more stress in society than there used to be. It has creeped into people's lives and most don't even realize it I suspect. That may explain why the election result represents monumental change. Just an opinion. Keep on being you. Don't forget you ride a VFR and they don't.... ; ) I don't have that problem when I go to the gym because I'm in water swimming laps. I go in with a smile and come out with a bigger one. Everyone in the pool area is glad to be there. Endorphins is my drug of choice....:love-struck:
Is your gym packed when you get there? Nothing pisses people off more than waiting 30 minutes to use the squat rack or bench lol. If so, maybe adjusting the time of day or location (if you have access to multiple gyms) can bring a happier atmosphere. I used to go after work and it was a zoo. Now I go before work and it is nice and peaceful. Also I have a choice of for locations in Orlando. The one I go to is mostly college crowd, but there is another one I checked out that is downtown and has a totally different feel to it.
