Heated Grips Fault Code E3

I've searched for 30 minutes and can't find a post on this but am sure I saw one before, so, Sorry:

I have a 2014 VFR800FD, purchased new about 4 months ago, with the factory installed heated grips. The grips worked fine one time. The second ride where I pushed the button, I got an E3 flashing on the dash where the heat level indicator (1-5) is normally displayed and I get no heat in either grip. It resets after power down. I think I saw a post where another owner had this problem and it was repaired under warranty by replacing the handle bar switch.

Anyone know what the cause of the problem is?
