Coming up short in that category is more Freudian than a bike forum is equipped for. Hope you get some helpful PMs. I cannot recommend any of the superglues for grip enhancement aside from the efficacy of same. The overall condition could prove to be embarrassing.

Maybe some of that "panocha" you buy in PI would help. Same deal there in Tucson in a tienda . Ask for canela just in case there's a chica behind the counter.

Close to last resort- vise grips. Use the tip and get them so tight your knuckles crack when you close them.

Penetrating oils are nothing more than moral support in a can.

Yeah, penetrating oil did absolutely nothing. I'm sure it's worked for some people, but not at all in this case I had.

The lock washer may have caused an issue on that one screw or definitely buggered it up even more, but 3 other screws (1 on same assembly and 2 on brights/signal switch) had lock washers too.

I'm interested in using Vibratite if this happens again.

AM take your old screws to ACE hardware and get same size hex (allen) head cap screws. If they are exposed to the elements, then give them a spray of clear or black.

    Thanks for that tip, Allyance.

I did replace those screws with stainless steel hex head screws from ACE using anti-seize.
    I did not spray them.

No need to spray if they are stainless, I made the mistake of not using stainless and they rusted!

ATF and toluene mix 50/50 for penetrating oil study some where saying this is best. I have used it with great success on seized caliper bleeder fittings. Also +1 on valve lapping compound on bit and screw, really gives a good bite. If this fails cussing and drill bits are the last resort. Good luck!!

Not actually got round to attacking the screws yet- sub zero temperatures have seen to that, but I've been busy getting my arsenal together ready for the assault. I got some JIS bits, plus one with diamond chips incorporated into the contact faces, all aimed at reducing the "cam-out" effect. Combined with my impact drivers, both manual and electric, I am optimistic. I've also dug out a can of freeze spray + penetrating oil that's been useful in the past. Unfortunately the depth of the tray and it's plastic construction prevents the use of either heat or Steel. I'll repost when I have something more concrete to report. Thanks for all the input by the way.

Incidentally, for anyone wanting to try the freeze/penetrating oil the name of the product is Lactose 8040. Never used it on a bike but it's been really helpful on my cars with everything from rusty bolts to seized brake unions.

Poxy spell-checker. 'Loctite' not lactose. Not sure about the lubricating properties of milk sugar though I wouldn't be surprised if someone has tried it.

A tip for those that don't have JIS drivers. You can file the tip of a Phillips a small amount so that it sits down into the screw for full contact.
