I currently have my kids listed for sale on Craigslist. I want the S1000RR and the XR. Canyons and tracks as well as everyday and trips. GTG that way!

When I demo'd both bikes it was on canyon roads. Much funz... The 1KRR is ferocious. Power all over the place. I could just fall mad in love with that bike. The XR was sneaky fast. It's so smooth, you don't really feel like you're going very fast, or even accelerating that strongly, until you look at your speed. Very deceptive. And, even tho it didn't feel like it was taking of that quick, when I got back on my Raza, I instantly could tell the difference. It's really strange. With the RR, there is no mistaking it. That is like riding the USS Enterprise while it's jumping to light speed. Just stupid quick.

Don't go and blow all your Craigslist earnings before I have a chance to woo you with pictures of my RWB garage queen! Hopefully the sun will be out tomorrow and I can get some good pics. I might wait till Thursday to post them, between the turkey haze and your wine buzz you'll be putty! Turkey haze and wine buzz are not legal grounds for buyers remorse by the way. Lol!

I had the BMW F800GT on my short list for a new bike. It was the first to fall off the list....

Benefits are that it is a small and light bike. They do a low seat option, 760mm seat height plus that tank storage and belt drive. The one I rode was a trade in, 2012? it had the oddball indicator switches which where as frustrating to use as Rubik's cube.

On the road it was very competent. It did exactly what you wanted it to, stable, easy to ride, cornered well. it is a very easy bike to ride and made you feel safe.

The down sides for me where the price, $17k AUS v $15k AUS for the VFR. Here in Australia, BMW stands for Bring More Wallet.
But the main one for myself is well, compared to the VFR. I don't need to sing the praises of the VFR to you lot do I? the looks, the glorious engine, the sound, the way it corners, the dash, the accessories, etc, etc.

I found a new theme song to inspire me - I'm gonna ask my Dad if he'll let me borrow his Benz convertible for a few weeks - shouldn't take me much longer than that to earn an extra $20K - lol

Which begs the question: will those of us, who for whatever reason, decided to ride another brand or model, still be welcome within this forum? I ask this not because I plan to jump ship any time soon but I do have a itch for an ST1300 with hard bags.

I would have to paint it yellow though!

Does this mean I can ride my BMW to Wal*Mart and still feel the love or does it mean Big Jim just needs a larger garage?

With the right tires, seat, bars, battery, oil and air filters and some luggage I might learn to like either one.

Old earls fork beemers, the GS hex head that was air/oil cooled. Or if I lived in Deutchland, would own something of that persuasion. Otherwise, i stay with Sushi, best bang for the buck, parts are cheap and available, and i like working on them better than beemers (do a brake service on one of those schnitzel bikes.) Dats all i got to say :peace:

Not that some of you know, or don't know, but a certain Beemer followed one of us home. just figured with all this beemer talk I would share just in case. Now to heal up to be able to really give it a good going over. DSCF0772.jpg

I have a nice belt made from kangaroo leather and one more to hold up my 501s. Never had belt final on a bike. The original was the Gilmer Belt from way back. There's a shitload of uses since the mechanism is a device for transferring power from one axle to another.

WIKI has a short article on Gilmer belts in genera with a request to provide more info on bike apps. If you or Jeff have had experience one way or another, maybe you could add what you know to the WIKI..What a great thanksgiving gift to share.

I see harleydoods using chains for belts. Maybe this a precursor to some of the hip hoppers who affect the look of having crapped their pants.
