WOW! That's a lot of pesos for a spring. Bet it would fit in one of those USPS boxes for aboot half that. I have an older "Beemer" with really way too many mods. I find if I need something simple like a spring (mine has a Reynolds Ride Off Stand and a Brown Side Stand) The BMW MOA gang are of great help. I hope that outfit you are dealing with is including some KY Jelly or that spring is engraved with the propeller logo.

I feel Honda with the AT and BMW could do more to support the shorties...but I understand I'm not the average buyer.

On the 1000RR I tip toed just as much. I can't wait to own one.

I'd like any pimpins to earn one of these. Some pimpins could definitely be more fun. Teeheehee

    Holy shizzzz...$$$ for the spring?!
I've read about the reliability of BMW, but when you do need something... $$$

Glad to see you are getting over the fuel pump issue and seeming to be in a love cycle with it.

Loved that 800 and even the 1200. How in the world could a 1200 wet and dry be less weight than the Viffer? I could not touch on the 800, but could on the 1200. But no way I can afford that.

I'll check out other forums and try to find a new to me model. May get lucky and find one already details for shorties.

Haha, yeah, I'm sold on heated grips now. So many times they would have come in handy for me.

At first the ADV style didn't do anything for me visually. But the more I read and the more I see friends and their adventures, the style has grown on me. Then this weekend...

I just need to get a hold of one that I can try on some other terrain and not just pavement.

The white ones are sexier ;)

This had my eye the whole time...

Almost a beautiful as Viffer, but no chain to rust out when up north.

I hope you'll always be and feel too young! :)

    Haha, not this time...

Seriously though, if I had a moto I didn't care about trashing I'd be getting in a ton of wheelie and hooligan practice.

Then I'd be ripping up town with wheelies on muh nice moto.

Hey AM! I am the product of decades on BMWs all be it airheads. You can't go wrong with a Beemer but don't think losing the chain will mean less maintenance. BMW loves their PMs. I had a conversation with a lady at a gas station about her F800. She loved the bike. I can see that it might be the perfect sport touring bike for those that are inseam challenged. It looked kind of small for me.

Biggest difference is that it's a boxer twin vs. V4 ... way less metal / parts required.
Also you're going from a 4-into-2 (or 4-into-1 depending on gen) to a 2-into-1 exhaust.
There are other things too like the frame construction ... it all adds up in a hurry.

They're completely different bikes with completely different power plants.

Looks like some fun was had.

Yes, I guess it was a rhetorical question. I understand the specs and how it contributes to weight.

I was just pleasantly surprised that big of a machine could weigh so much less...and that I could operate it and lift it easier than the Viffer.

Now put me on that lightweight 1000RR with all that horsepower and shorty me and talk about surprised.

My drool and cursing could make GatorGreg blush. And piss off the gas monitor lady cuz I'd be wasting all the gas.

Yah, I know what you mean. Matts R1 is a monster with very little weight.

Ahhhh, true. Still maintenance. Replacing chain and sprockets really isn't too terrible.

The motos are small and I seemed to fit on it perfect. The only odd thing was when touching ground, the foot pegs were posotioned right where they were jabbing into my legs.

May have been how far I sat against the tank to get most foot to the ground. I had to consciously put my feet to the ground behind the pegs.

This is something I'd get used to quickly though. I wouldn't expect pegs to be moved. They must be positioned for the average rider.

LOL - yeah the S1000RR was amazing - it weighs about 80 lbs less than an 8th gen and has 95 more horsepower - a slobber and profanity inducing combo to be sure. I may have to consider pimping myself out as well AM - I think I'll call the gas monitor lady and see if she's in the market for an extra pump or two :playful:
