Might be a bad temp sending unit (switch). Is the radiator getting hot enough to turn the fan on? Could be bad thermostat or radiator cap if the radiator isn't getting very hot.

The Rad. was very very hot (couldnt touch it) then it started to puke green stuff out the overflow. The volts on one side of the switch was 12v on the other side was .5 of a volt if any. I thought that when the switch gets hot it closes and passes 12v though to the fan relay which kicks the fan on.

    Roy,
fan thermostat switch closes when temp reaches 220 degrees F it grounds the fan motor and makes it run. Switch is most likely the culprit. Did you recently flush radiator? if so you may have air trapped in cooling sys. air is a poor conductor of heat
to bleed air out of system you need to open radiator cap and snap throttle open quickly reving to 4-6 thousand RPMs be sure engine is warm and that thermostat is open ~ 15 min
    hope this helps

Sounds like a bad sending unit (switch) to me. I'd replace it and add a manual switch, so I could turn it on whenever I want. That's what I did.

Asking for a thermo fan switch to fit a 1983 Honda Accord at your local auto
parts store should net you one of the above numbers.

This switch fits many Honda car applications, 1975-1991 Honda Civic All 3 door (hatchback) and CRX models also 1986-1991 Acura Integra, all engine sizes

    Hi All
Just installed a NAPA fan switch (FS130SB) and so far its working great! My temp is holding right in the center of the gauge. The Napa switch is a lot larger but fit just fine. I made a couple of jumper wires to change the barrel plug to a spade so I did'nt need to cut any factory wires. Just a nice and clean insallation.
    Thanks for the info.

Does anyone know if these switches will work for an 84 VF700 sabre? My Fan is not coming on at all. I will try to pull the fan off and see if I can get it to come on manually.
