S21 vs. EVO and BT023

I know what to expect from experience with Bridgestone ST tires excepting the S21's that are supposedly more performance oriented.

For anyone that runs or has run S21's, how does grip, tire life, and cornering ability on the S21's compare to the other two tires mentioned? Just thinking again.....Thanks!

I have to T30 Evo tires, but I am at the edge of the front tire. 5K plus miles so far, still have tread.. For a Sport Touring tire they perform well, but I need something with more lean angle, like the S21, which have 60 degrees. The S21 are not a sport touring tire, they are a sport tire, maybe with a little additional life built into them.

 

I like the T30 EVO ... The first set were the normal ones and wore quickly compared to some of the other Sport Touring tires I've owned. The second set I bought the GT-spec (no additional cost) and they seem to be lasting a lot longer -- I won't know how much more until spring though, as my riding season is nearly over with Old Man Winter on his way up here in the Great White North.

 

Per the rep at Bridgestone Nashville, the T30 EVO and GT are the same tire, with a tread difference that increases longevity.

Gt version were designed for heavier bikes. Sidewalls are stiffer.


The tread differences were between the t 30 the original tyre and the t 30 evo. As far as I'm aware the gt version has same tread pattern as evo They both last longer than the original t 30

 

I just recently threw on a set of S21s and essentially the third ride I did was a track day. I rode at Fontana and the second session I did I did a 1:55.882. This was on the last lap of the session but the first lap was only 3 seconds off. I was almost pushing it on the entry lap. They are great tires and I had no problems with them nor did they exhibit any lack of grip. The longevity will need to be monitored but I don't expect anything more than 3k miles to be honest. At less than $200 ($144 after $50 rebate) I'll be fine with that!

 

Love tire threads, just can't help myself to not reply. So in that, one tire that seems for some reason to not get much attention is the Pirelli , I put 3500 miles on the Diabo Rosso IIs this summer, they're not showing much in the way of rapid wear with a great profile. first time with them on the 5th gen, so we'll see, but on the forth I'd see 9-11K k easily. They are GREAT! But then I've been using them since 2006 since I haven't had reason to change what works. just throwing it out there.

 

I have the Pirelli Super Corsa SP2s on the Duc. Great tire for sure but not expecting them to last all that long either. A friend of mine uses them on his track/street bike (he rides the track more). He claims that they are quick to warm up and last at least a few track days with some commuting in between. He hasn't really kept an eye on the odometer so he keeps forgetting to mark what mileage he gets out of them.

I have been impressed with them too but still waiting to see what the longevity of them will be. If they're anything like the Dunlop Q2s maybe 3k miles. Sadly the mileage I got from the Q2s as a reference was on my Duc and this is a less than 400lb. bike with maybe 90HP! Although primarily sport/canyon riding does take a harder toll on tires.

By far the best mileage tire I have used has been the Michelin Pilot Road 2 & 4, where I get at least 10k miles out of commuting/touring on my 09 VFR. The Michelin Pilot Power 3s got me to 6k miles on the 01 VFR and this, like with the Duc, is with sport/canyon riding. A couple negatives with the Michelin are one, price. They just cost a bit more and two, when they get near the end of tread life, they get "greasy". Meaning they start to slide out on you. Although the plus side of that, is you for sure know when you need new tires.
