Welp, I just about got hit big time. BIG time. But no time to pull out muh glock.

Steady swift braking and defensive lane choice while anticipating someone turning left through an intersection just saved my arse.

The woman saw me as soon as she could see the oncoming lane (she was blind turning because cars my way were waiting to turn left and she couldn't see into my lane) and we both came to a head in one of the busiest intersections here.

Slammed on our brakes. I saw the dude's face in the vehicle behind her as we stopped. Looked like he shat his pants thinking I was toast. If I hadn't been the farthest to the right in my lane, she'd of hit me for sure.

I revved engine in pissiness and rode off. Stopped to check myself and my brakes. I don't know what I could do about them. I mean I slammed them so hard, but as not to lock them up. I'm thankful I haven't done that before.

But Idiots. Who takes a blind turn in rush hour? Idiots.

Lesson: keep those defensive lane choices in forefront.

So happy that you're unscathed ... that there is some scary stuff.

We have to ride so much more defensive than cagers because of our size and lack of protection. Good job keeping your shit together and staying safe!

    Glad you're ok AM.
In answer to your question; people will just turn blind and hope for the best.

The universal constant is not the speed of light nor gravity waves, it is stupidity. It can be always be relied on and will never fail.

Put the 2000-2001 Mirrors on my 1998. Should have done that a long time ago.

Where did you guys get the spacer between the mirror and fairing?

Is that a Honda part as well?

    @ AM

Repeat every 5 or so seconds when riding

"I am invisible and everyone is stupid and they are trying to kill me "

Glad you're OK Anne Marie. Intersections are all different at different times too. I treat all I can't see completely through as if it's going to be a problem. Speeding up or slowing down and using other cars can help keep you safe at intersections. Blind left is the worst, depending on what cars are in front of you and the offset of the intersection, inside or outside of the left lane can be the best to see if there is a silver head ready to make that blind leap of faith. people pulling rights in front of you out of the right lane is another danger area, especially if they're all are a bunch of drives leading out to a main road without traffic signals. we have a lot of 6 Lane Divided Highways. Sometimes that center lane can be the best. It's constantly changing, got to keep your eyes open. Shiny side up girl.

I actually want shorter mirrors! When lane splitting you need the maximum amount of clearance on each side! I read somewhere that there are certain model CBR mirrors that work and are just a tad bit shorter. I'm more concerned about what's on either side of me than behind me. As they say, "Objects in mirror are losing!"

Good save there girl! That's why I ride with two fingers over the brake and clutch 90% of the time, instant response. Even one second late can hurt you.

So glad your situation didn't result in unwanted modifications to your moto. And to yourself!

A silly thing I spend some time doing is watching YouTube dashcam videos, most of which seem to be Russian.
A huge percentage of the recorded wrecks occur when someone turns left in front of a line of stopped traffic. Invariably, another vehicle comes cruising by on the right, resulting in a meeting of RF/LF corners, or a T-Bone.
Watching has sunk in so much that I can predict what is going to happen pretty accurately. Educational, I guess.
I treat a line of stopped traffic like a major danger zone, and only roll by at a greatly reduced speed. Impossible to see around or over SUVs, vans, trucks, motor homes, etc.... And you never know when someone will make the move which resulted in your near miss.
I'd be damn proud of being able to knock off the speed in a hurry without locking the front and going down. YouTube is full of riders doing that too.

Wow AM! Good on you for being prepared! I've had a few of these moments over all the years I've been riding, too many to recount here but I believe the more we ride and the longer we're behind the bars the more we become hypersensitive to our surroundings.

A few of my friends and I call it our "Spidey Sense". We have shared stories where we just knew something was amiss and our Spidy Sense saved our bacon!

At least you affirmed my pissedoffedness wasn't abnormal last Saturday when someone came into my lane head-on. Sometimes I think we need to have the right to speed up Darwinism via Glock when people do stupid things. I can't afford to keep that much ammo though.......

    Glad you're OK.
