I pulled the car out last night and left "Jeni" all to herself. I feel bad that in a single car garage she sits cramped next to the garbage can and probably for months. Today was a perfect Fall day in Utah. 72F and took her out for a nice little round about of 115 miles. Canyons-City-Freeway and grocery shopping. I bought her a treat as well. Hope she likes the fuel stabilizer in the coming weeks. ;-)

I also tried to take another shot at installing the tail tidy! Fuck that. I tried heat, delicate torque, shims, screwdrivers, wedges, wrenchs and to no avail. I have mine for sale if you would like it. Give me $30 and pay for shipping and it is your. I did drill holes for the U.S. license plate. For a simple straight forward install I have no idea of how I was not able to accomplish this. Shit my confidence level just went down a notch. I don't think I will try to install a power commander or a super charger soon!;-) Hell after the ride and trying this maybe I should not get on the bike!;-) Oh fuck that I am just depressed at my Fantasy football trade. :)

I'm with Duckie on this one.

Seriously, Bubba, what went wrong though with the tail tidy?

At least you've been trying. :) And you got in nice riding!! It will be near 80 all week here in DooDah

Rode about 115 miles today with a BMW S1000RR, S1000XR and A GSX-R 750. The BMWs left me in the tight twisties, where I am just not very good, but in the sweepers, I can stretch her legs, it was a whole different story. The BMWs couldn't get away. It definitely is more fun in the more open roads.

I had her pick her front tire up in second gear about five times today. Good times, three of which were coming out of turns. Funnnnz everywhere!

You were seriously out-powered! A VFR will corner but with much more weight to haul around than your comrades today. Maybe you're a better rider than you credit yourself for. That S1000RR had you by twice the HP and much less weight.

Past the edge in the back, a little more to go on the front. I need sport tires with more real estate on the edges.

Yep, my VFR just doesn't care for the
tight stuff either. I really had to work it a few weeks ago on the Snake just to keep my buddies GSXR750 in sight. Different story on the 33 north of Ojai or on ACH.

I think getting the suspension dialed in will help in my case. New springs, valving, rear shock; Maybe raise the rear a bit.
But you just can't do much about the wheel base and the weight. It will never transition like a 600.

On the other hand, I really only notice when I'm on roads that the other riders know well/better than me. As a friend of mine says, "It's tough to beat a dog in his own backyard."

One of the best mods I did to both VFRs (Duc too actually) was having their suspensions rebuilt. It really transforms the bike, making it much better in all types of turns and roads. Personally I like the the tight twisty stuff but the long sweepers are fun too.

BTW Ragtop, the Brdgestone S21s did great at the track. I was able to start pushing almost right away. I ran 30PSI F/R and handling was fine.

That is great to hear. Some friends have been urging me to take the VFR to the track, but my insurance doesn't cover track use. Unfortunately, my ZX7R needs new fork stanchions so no track day in sight for me.

I like the tight stuff too, but my zx7r likes them better than the VFR. Of course the kawi has a Penske shock and new internals in the forks, so that helps.

Picked up my VFR since my last one, nearly 10 years ago.
This one a 2000 model, 11k mi. new tires, but needs chain/sprockets, brake/clutch fluids flush and some new brake pads.. I've missed the gear driven cam and V4 tune.

Lmoa that hilarious Bubba. As for my VF(not even an R)F I finally done the fork and dust seals. After swapping to fresh ATF when I got the bike and feeling like it was too soft on 3 of 3, I decided to go with 10 weight fork oil. Couldn't find any handy so I gave Lucas Hydraulic fluid a shot at $20 a gallon. It has all the anti foaming agents and such and is equivalent equivalent to 10 weight oil. Worst case scenario I will order some hydraulic fluid that is spec'd for forks or fork oil.
Funny thing is even among true fork oils some 7 weight oils are actually heavier (in Centi-Stokes cSt) that other 10 weight oils. Turns out their isn't an SAE or ISO spec for fork oil viscosity. Cartridge fluid on the other hand does have a uniform viscosity spec.
If anyone is actually interested I can dig up some of the decent links I found with tech info and such.

Also installed small heater grids under my current grips, it's the $8 path to heated grips, I did end up using my own heat shrink to secure them as the pieces of H-shrink that were included seamed a bit large maybe it had a 3:1 shrink ratio. The hi/lo/ off switch was not weather proof either ,but for around $5 for the kit I can handle buying a weather proof switch. Turned them on for a couple minutes seems to work pretty good , will have to see how warm they get.

I be needing some heated grips. I've never experienced them, so I don't really know what I'm missing out on. They sound toasty though.

I could take a moto off your hands, cat. I always wanted a BB. That F4 tho <3

Oxfords on my VFR as well but I forget they are there. Had a "d'oh!" moment riding on a cold day with numbing hands, when I suddenly remembered the grips. Ahhhhh, bliss.
